Congratulations to Tranmere

Liverpool U23s play there & they helped out with pre-season games. I know Mark Palios and he’s on the record as saying Liverpool were more helpful when they were in financial trouble than we were. However, there are as many blues who watch them as there are reds. Some Tranmere fans were bad teds when we were struggling under Walter and they were flying but every fan base has some whoppers. They are a decent community club and as another born in St. Catherine’s and who went to school in Birkenhead (St. Anselm’s) am delighted for them.

Given how much they rubbed it in after they embarrassed us back in 2001, and they still go and on and on about even now having a St Yates day on every anniversary of that game, I have no time for them and would have been happy to see them stay non league for a very long time.

I think their hatred for us stems for when Johnson jumped ship for here when they were not too far away from getting into the Premier League.

A bit harsh to have a go at them for the area they are from though considering our greatest ever player came from there.
