Seriously WTF is NET when your recieving £26m and £24m for 1 player, which has gone back into the side. I am not saying hes had more than his piers. But he hasnt out done them either in the league or cups financially or on the field. Hes won nothing. Once he broke the top 4. Massive achievement but he done it once in 11 years.

NET spend is the best indicator of a club has spent in comparison to it's rivals.

People talk/act as though hes spent the same as say Wigan or other teams who really do have nothing budgets. If we're to go on the money table hes about where he should be then mid table to European finishes.

The point I' trying so hard to make is..... Hes spent a good amount of money. People would have you believe he hasnt. If he'd won something on his budget then we'd all agree he done an amazing job with the less money than his rivals but he hasnt won anything.

In terms of net spend Moyes has outperformed, probably by three or four places on average. That makes him a good manager, probably ( financially speaking ) a very good manager, but clubs aren't breaking a leg to pay us compensation to take him away from us.

A decent analogy is that Moyes is like a pretty girl, you're happy to be with her but sometimes wish you could get off with her dirty mate who'll blow your mind and give you a real night to remember once in a while.

More than decent.

I would personally like Moyes to stay; there would be too much uncertainty for my liking with a new manager.

The RS have been miles away from the top 4 for a few years now.

Talk of a 'big 4' which includes them is pure Sky-induced hype.

Call it 3 teams who have finished in the top 4 every season during Moyes' tenure and 1 who are our local rivals.

No wins away to any of them in 48 attempts. Not an easy achievment obviously but when you're the 5th best team in the country on average in that tenure you'd expect the stats to be somewhat better.

Especially when at home, and records against City and Spurs are pretty good.

On Moyes's contract, if he doesn't sign, it would be sad to see him go, but i'd get over it within a few hours.

Yes I'd agree, especially against inferior teams like the RS. I was just pointing out that stats can be selective and can be manipulated to give a subjective point of view.

Until we sign Sam Alladyce.

I would never forgive the board if that happened. Lol

To be fair as one of the posters above said I too don't mind Moyes staying he has been good for the club (he has become part of the furniture) especially from the beginning of this season to the Christmas period we were fourth place and thereabouts. Although at the same time there have been things I haven't agreed with.

If Moyes does leave I will be sad the guy has been part of the club for 11years and I really hope he goes with a cup win and would wish him well for the future.

I also believe we would still be quite able to get a decent manager in. One thing going for us we are not like other clubs who won't give the new man a contract and then sack him in a few months. We are a stable club even though we might not be as rich as others. Everton would look to be an attractive proposition for a lot of ambitious managers. I think some of us sell ourselves too short at times.

No its not. NET spend indicates how much money you spend after profits are taken in from sales. If we recieve £24m for Lescott and spend the whole £24m on new players. Then spurs spend £24m on players without any sales where is the difference other than the money coming as a gift rather than a sale? There isnt one!!! The same money is spent by both clubs.

It makes more sense than saying 'Moyes spent £12m per season so he hasnt been on a tight budget'

Which is of course ludicrous. We didn't buy a single player for a period of about 2 years for God's sake.

that's the point, that money went back into the side, but that is pretty much the only money that went into the side - his transfer funds have been 70-80% generated from player sales. If you look at other upper mid-table teams it will be less than 50%, and top teams even less than that with Utd (thanks to Ronaldo sale) and Arsenal as exceptions.

If you can spend money without having to sell your best players to fund it then that's an advantage to selling your best players to replace and start again!?!?!

If moyes had never had to sell our best players (rooney lescott arteta donovan) yet still being able to add to that we would have a side capable of challanging right up the very top by now.

Money dictates everything.

The clock is ticking....

If Bill had any sense he'd be looking at replacements now.

This is my worry.

I'm not sure whose court the ball is in. Is it Moyes with control of his own destiny? Has he even been offered a new contract?

Or is the board playing their cards close and seeing what is going to happen?

I don't like this complete lack of planning for next season. It's amateurish.

Although I guess a club like Chelsea is in a similar position.
