"I am from a city that is not unlike Liverpool. I am joining the people's football club. The majority of people you meet on the street are Everton fans. It is a fantastic opportunity, something you dream about. I said 'yes' right away as it is such a big club."

Only seems like 2 minutes ago when I heard him say that.

Moyes took us from finishing bottom half of the table every year and nearly getting relegated, to top 8 for seven years in a row. Since then the finances being spent on the team haven't improved. It's laughable that people assume we'd be sound because 'we are Everton'.

Villa, Leeds

Ruined by financial reality and poor management.

The league doesn't run on history. Deal with it.

Your point is ? At no point have I ever said that we will be fine because "we are Everton". In your quest to play devils advocate with every feeble chance you get you sometimes forget exactly just what it is people you are attempting to argue with have stated exactly. Life at Everton will carry on regards of who walks out the door and it just so happens that the man who has just left us hasn't brought us success that is physically tangible in that you can see it glistening in the trophy room at L4, I know you love the intangible yourself as you whore your views all over it with wild abandonment.

Bring me a man with the heart of lion who will not freeze when he is the crosshairs

He has gone now & on reflection his time at Everton was like having drunken sex you enjoyed it most of the time but couldn't reach that big climax & now its over you wonder was it all worth it

I have no ill will toward him. He did a decent job (although we were all beaten over the head a bit too much with how much of a decent job he'd done). Not arsed he's gone though. Only the replacement concerns me. I can easily see these clowns handing it to a complete ****ing idiot who'll bury us in two seasons.

Is the correct answer.

Lack of investment in the squad + a poor replacement and we'll be doing a Villa before you can say At Least We're Not Villa.

The board need to step up big time.

How will BK have time to search for a new manager when is is working 24/7 on investment?????

Looks like its going to be a VERY interesting few months and hopefully we get things in place sooner rather than later.

Excited and Gutted all at the same time :/

Will kenwright be searching for a manager 24/7?!?!? If he is we are screwed... We may have a manager in 10 years.....

I think now he has revealed his desire to manage man utd he should not be in charge anymore we can't finish 5th and only need a couple of points to finish 6th...

Thanks David for your service... Now get lost!!!

If I say please can the anti moyes people please stop saying no one is bigger than the club... please? No one has said he is , no has indicated they believe he is, no one has suggested anything that could be misconstrued as he is.
Its an embarrassing, pointless cliche even by the low standards of cliches used on this forum ffs.

Ian Holloway for me definitely. The man is a legend and if Moyesy worked on a small budget at Everton then what Holloway did at Blackpool with nothing but spare change, think of what he could do at Everton.

A great man a great personality and a great style of football.

I would absolutely love it if we got him. Also if we possibly sell Fellaini we should get Belhanda and Aubameyang for the money and with Holloway's tactics and inspirational speeches we could really challenge again

Fellaini's tweet is making me even more gutted. "Many Thanks Coach..."

Not feeling a bit excited, don't think anyone we get will consistently keep us in the top 6 or 7 with the budget Moyes has to work with.

Brennan will you turn it in for once in your life ? Managerial knowhow wins you trophies and that what makes HISTORY. Moyes leaves with a glaring hole in his name, no matter how you want to dress this up with your "great with money" slogans, your tedious laments about working miracles in the quest to finish 7th or 6th or your doom and gloom pie in the sky prophecies about life after Moyes.

Everton will survive and prosper

Everton will survive and prosper based on what ?

And do me a favour. Grow up and stick to the discussion instead of throwing petty insults.

Same but I am assured we will now win cups so hey ho. Easy come, easy go.
