Re: Thread Closed

The problem with our, at times, desperate defending towards the end of games is down to negative tactics, a lack of composure and inability to retain possession. If we can learn to kill teams off more when we are on top, some of these faults will be solved.

We were more attacking last year than usual. In fact we were frequently caught light of numbers because we were up the other end of the pitch. Disagree with what you say except our defense does have to improve if we are going to get silverware.

We only scored 5 more goals than the season before and conceded the same. I think we started the season attacking and finished the last couple of games attacking but for the most part it was business as usual.

I agree we were much more attacking last year the main problem was the finishers golden touch turned out to be gold plate and the shine came off.....

Harry, for me fandjango here is closer to the truth regarding attacking, because although you are of course correct, we didn't score loads more goals than the season before (remember how well we were scoring that season at the end though), we were making a lot of chances all season, just not burying them the way Jelavic and co did the season before.

Not scoring and not attacking, whilst similar, are not quite the same thing, and Moyes change in attitude to send people forward more did result in us conceding a lot more goals and points off of counter attacks.

Is Martinez still registered as a player? Deep lying CM under our noses right there.
It's nice to a manager who can play a bit. I'd assume this is the "extreme pressure" training one of the Croat lads was talking about he saw us doing in Austria?
