According to author Malcolm Gladwell:
The Tipping Point is defined as the moment of critical mass, the threshold, and the boiling point. It is the point when everyday things reach epidemic proportions. There are three distinct characteristics of epidemics – contagiousness, the fact that little causes can have big effects, and that change happens not gradually but at one dramatic moment.
I have been stewing on this since midweek, and have just come around to putting it down for public consumption. Ever since the slow start to this season and the trickle of goals, confidence has been hard to come by for the boys. Flashes of it here and there, and then darkness again. This is pure speculation, but the change in formation was a tipping point in the locker room relationship with Moyes and with each other. I think that the boys were beginning to question the gaffer and it showed on the pitch. The boys were ready to go, and were up for Spurs, coupled with the change and the brilliant football that was displayed was a result. Instead of a flash of confidence here and there we blinded them with it(Suck it VDV!). This change has brought confidence back. We know what confidence does for a Striker. You know what it does for Seamus. Coleman's confidence has been growing. We've seen it week in and week out. You know what it will do for Arteta. That smile he had on his face when Coleman scored is one our opponents know and fear. Watch out folks, I think our spaniard may be on the march. Also I think the confidence of the boys will embolden the gaffer and his demeanor will rise as well. It was wicked awesome watching Moyes celebrate Coleman's goal. The fire fueled by confidence is contagious. Combine that with the fighting spirit that only Everton has, and I think the tipping point of midweek will lead us up the table and to better things.
