Played a fair bit of FF7 Remake now.
First off, it's not as good as the original. Miles off in all honesty. It lacks the atmosphere of it in a big way.
That said, it's absolutely brilliant in its' own right. They should have called it Reimagined rather than Remake, because it's so radically different in many story beats. But I'm actually delighted its' unique in its' own right because if they'd done a straight up remake it'd have failed IMO. Weirdly the combat system is nearly my favourite thing about it, despite being my biggest concern going in.
Not one of my favourite games ever as the original is, but comfortably one of my favourite PS4 games ever. Already looking forward to the next one even before finishing this - you'd have to expect it'd be more open world?
