Computer games.

I don’t get the skill arguement. Unlocking perks etc doesn’t take skill, it takes man hours. Why would me getting killed by someone who had paid for perks be any different to me being killed by someone who grinded for the perks ? It’s the perks themselves which take away skill, not the method with which you unlock them.

One takes 30 seconds and £80, the other takes 100+ hours of gameplay where you are outmatched for the whole experience by those who simply bought the perks.

So it's psychological manipulation; you either get your arse handed to you by people for 100+ hours and be sick of the game by the time you get the unlocks, or you pay to play properly. Despite buying the exact same game full price in the first instance.

It's acceptable in a free-to-play game because that's the monetization mechanic and people understand that going in. But if you pay £60 for a game, you don't expect to have to spend that again and more simply to play the same game as others.

I’m not trying to prove anything, I posted a review which is actually balanced in order to counter the previous two reviews which were clearly the complete opposite of balanced.

I’m not surprised at all btw, Ive known for years what a bunch of whiny overly dramatc chits online gamers can be. Give it another month or two and they’ll find something new to get outraged about.
Except they've been outraged about that for about 3 years.

I haven’t been having my arse handed to me at all though... I’m not smashing it but I’m doing about as well as I always do in online shooters, same goes for my mates who I’m playing it with, hence why we find it amusing how bent out of shape people are getting. Have you actually played it ? It really doesnt feel anymore unbalanced than countless other shooters.

And again, it’s the perks themselves which take away the skill, not how you unlock them. There is no skill in grinding away for hundreds of hours to unlock stuff, just as there is no skill in buying them.

There are always going to be redeeming qualities in most games. That doesn't change the fact that EA games gets away with awful practices that are affecting the gaming industry as a whole. You have every right to enjoy their games and tolerate their practices. Gamers have every right to condemn their practices and demand less complacency from the community itself.

Of course I haven't played it, and never will - but I have eyes and know how numbers work. So take a game I do play like, I dunno, Pro Evo. If I'm playing someone online, each playing the same team, and they have a "card" that means all of their players are 20% faster than mine, then they have a very obvious advantage.

So if an X-Wing can turn 20% faster than someone else in the same vehicle, and that's just one example, the game is obviously unbalanced.

But it would be unbalanced even if you didn’t have to pay for them... that’s the entire point !! The perks are still there regardless of how you unlock them.

There will always be people who play the game more than others and thus they will have more perks than others.

If people are so fussed about this then don’t play games with perks, go back to proper skill based games like counter strike... not mainstream casual games where performance enhancing unlocks have been the standard for many years.

I don't think you're getting why people are annoyed... Yes, games have 'end game perks', loads/most do. A game like World of Warcraft, for example, people understood that those who got to level 60, go PvP and proper no-lifed it will have advantages.

That isn't the issue - the issue is that you can outright buy that advantage, and you are punished for 100+ hours if you don't because you know you're grinding something that you could easily get another way if you throw cash at it.

The fun of WoW in the above scenario was knowing you could aim at that tier and when you got there you could legitimately say "that was an enjoyable colossal waste of time doing something I couldn't have achieved any other way; who needs a girlfriend?" - not, "oh wow, yay, I've spent loads of time getting something that some asshat got three months ago by just paying for it and has enjoyed playing it properly as a result for that entire time."

That's why it's psychological manipulation. You are paying £60 for a game to be manipulated at every step to spend that again and more.

No I understand that, my point is with regard to people saying that paying for unlocks takes away the skill (see the post I quoted couple posts prior to this)... they don’t. How you get unlocks has no relevance to skill level. The worst gamer in the world could unlock everything with enough man hours.

Unlocks by nature make games unbalanced hence why serious gamers play the likes of counter strike over mainstream AAA titles.

This was the reason I gave up on GTA online very quickly. Low level and broke you're not able to experience the game without being a target for people that bought gold. It's a horrible game design but seems ridiculously popular.

Nothing more entertaining than taking down the kid whose parents idea of parenting is the latest triple A with all paid for perks, i can just imagine the rage when they come up against me in the basic kit.
Did the beta of SWBF2 and couple of ours on EA access, and thats enough reminiscing of being 8 year old running around going pew pew.

The issue for the battlefront outrage is not the fact you have loot boxes etc. Not arsed about that

All I would be arsed about is spending 50 quid on a game and not getting everything with it. Why would you spend so much money with so much locked Away? It's half a game when you consider it's designed for multiplayer and the single player parts are phoned in and tacked on
