Computer games.

I have a question about MGSV. The previous ones seemed to have endless cut scenes that seemingly went on and on and on.

Is it the same in this one?

One of the reasons why it is totally different.

The gameplay mechanics in how your character moves and interacts with the environment, and the general story arc/tone are about the only things similar to other MGS games. This is an almost free-roam game where you can do missions and side quests as you choose, you have a base to manage and develop and an army to grow alongside the actual missions within the world.

There are no long cut scenes, or i've certainly not experienced any so far.

what would everyone say are the top 3 games of all time? i realise this is stupid question..ahem

what are the godfather/citizen kane etc of the computer game world?

thank you

Depends on what you mean by top 3 really.

Half Life 2 should be up there in terms of impact in gaming, along with FF7 and Grand Theft Auto 3. Whether they are the 'top 3' is debatable.

i suppose influence and ground breaking really, as obviously taste will be a massive impact here..

I couldn't look past Zelda: Ocarina of time. My favourite game of all time bar none.
I love Final Fantasy, 10 is probably my favourite but most people don't like it
Really odd choice but I've put many hours in to it and really enjoyed it, Pokémon just for the replay value and nostalgia

from personal experience my top 3 are;

Resident evil 4- just so much right and even as a stand alone title it was great, with everything covered.
Metal Gear solid- incredible game, especially for its time. Work of art.
Zelda- Ocarina- Played it years after release, complete game and probably brilliant for its time as well, in retrospect

Ultima, GTA3 and FF7 would be my top three in terms of impact, in that order. So basically the same as Brennan but I don't think HL2 was quite as impactful as Ultima - actually, nowhere near really. Ultima influenced virtually every game genre there is.

Personal top three - Final Fantasy 7, Grim Fandango and Super Mario 64. Mario swaps 3rd position with any one of around 10 games any given month, so it's always a two horse race between FF7 and Fandango for my all-time best.

Oh, and best three modern games I've played - The Last of Us (not actually a fan as I felt the story a bit mediocre, but in terms of game mechanics and getting the atmosphere spot on I appreciate it as a masterpiece), Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (for obvious reasons) and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - which is the best game you've never played.
