Computer games.

at what point was it behind?

Up until the last gen consoles were better. You can argue graphics and games all you want but the 360 was a brilliant console and before that the ps2 fantastic for gaming.

Considering this generation they already started miles behind and the amountil of quality games dwindled in comparison of re masters and let downs.

This is the first time in my life I genuinely feel envious of PC gamers and it has nothing to do with games. I just feel that up until the last gen consoles were the perfect platform for gaming, either for selection or quality but this generation has killed that off and become solely a money making device which has lost track of what they are making them for.

There has been nothing that consoles could do that PC's couldn't do better. And I've used both for nearly 20 years.

Not sure that it was. The 360 / PS2 were great, but nearly all of the best games were available on (and were better on) the PC - KOTOR, BF1942, Oblivion (and before that Morrowind), the various CoDs, Mass Effect etc; and that is without even mentioning the likes of EVE and Warcraft.

The only thing that consoles have been invariably better at is non-managerial football games and GTA.

Yes I'm not doubting that. But before this generation of consoles I wouod argue they were better to game on. Pc versions may have been better looking but out and out gaming platforms it was better for consoles.

Compared to now where between steam, easy access and competitive gaming, a decent gaming pc with an older controller connected is now the better option

As the post above yours states only with football games can consoles compete, GTA was always better on PC, FPS was a PC genre before going mainstream, anything to do with simulation or strategy doesn't appear on consoles, likewise management, RPGS are far better especially with mod support.
Online gaming started on PC consoles are just about catching up with that but still no mmorpg in sight.
Console gaming is like choosing to watch the expendables over the godfather, fun to turn your brain off for a while but the latter offers far more in depth.

Anyone played the BF1 trial? Incredible. Just hope launch goes smoothly this year.

EA access gets you 10 hours playtime. 4 quid a month if you don't already use it.

Pay 15 quid extra and you can get it 3 days before release date if you want to proper nerd out.

To be fair like I used to enjoy the old fifas on 360 when I was younger.

Mainly the version where I modded my virtual pro with a USB for online clubs, made him 8 foot 11 with 127 overall and used to hide at kickoff behind our own goal for the first 5 minutes so the other team wouldn't notice and quit whilst they could.

Good times.

GTA was better on consoles, or at least it was a lot more playable. I have had a succession of fairly decent gaming PCs down the years and none of them played the equivalent version of GTA anywhere near as smoothly as the relevant PS did.

Get it now on PC and install the redux mod mate. Looks amazing.
