pc version is locked to 30fps as well, bizarre

A good game is a good game, who gives a flying about frame rates?, not me that's for sure.

I don't think you know what frame rate is or how it effects gameplay. Every gamer cares about frame rate whether they know it or not, it's the most important factor in a game running smoothly. It's not some weird nerdy thing that only pc gamers care about, its one of the main things any developer focuses on when building a game. You have a bad frame rate you're going to have a bad gaming experience.

Developers of both current gem consoles strive for 60fps because the experience is so much smoother than 30fps, it's night and day difference.

Well yeh, but people on neogaf already have it and confirm its a huge downgrade visually. PC version is also locked to 30fps which is pretty much unheard of in pc gaming.

Rest of the game might be ace, in which case it's not that big a deal

No it isn't. It is actually quite common in console ports (lazy devs eh?). Which is probably exactly what Mafia 3 is. Depending on mod support, I am sure some enterprising modder will come out with a fix for that.

I just fail to get excited for this game. I played Mafia 2 from start to finish, and it wants to be GTA, but it sadly isn't. It creates an illusion of a sandbox, as in you can drive anywhere in the world, just you can't do anything that isn't in the current mission.

its not common in any of the ports I've played, that's for certain and the reaction it's got suggests not many people consider it common.

The game actually slows down (as in your movement etc) if you drop below 30fps as the physics etc are apparently tied to the frame rate.

I'm sure it'll be fixed over time by the devs but it still suggests lazy port and poor optimisation.
