Computer games.

It is so not a fad.

I tried a DK2 on Elite: Dangerous, and despite the screen door effect it was absolutely immense.

Had a go again with a consumer Rift, and it is so much better than the old DK2, but I can still see pixels, but no where near clear enough to be distracting when playing Elite.

The sense of scale it give that game is unbelievable. The immersion. It is the next step.

Heck it is so real there are vids of people moving around in VR demos and falling over because they tried leaning on a virtual table!

With Facebook investing serious money into the Rift, Valve and HTC putting money into Vive, Sony and its Playstation brand inversting in PSVR, Razr pushing their OSVR, Virtual Reality is a thing and not a passing fad. The tech that has gone into it to overcome the traditional problems of VR (motion sickness) are being overcome and it is getting ever closer to being something that can be used in many different situation.

Another thing to get properly excited about is Microsofts Holo-lens, which looks like it is going to be a special usable AR device in the future.

I am not easily excited, but HTC Vive is pretty cool. I wish it was a bit less blurry and bit less screendoor effect, but other than that it is fantastic. I don't get sucked into it like you see many people do on youtube videos and get frightened by zombies etc, BUT when I jumped ( really high up in the air) in one of these games ( called Windlands) My body actually believed I jumped and I had to take a few steps to keep my balance, and I felt butterflys in my gut. 10-15 jumps after this I got used to it though.

Soma's story was interesting but wasn't very scary at all.

Looking forward to Outlast 2.

Getting more into it now, up to the point where
that figure of a diver keeps flashing into existence and killing me as i try to get into the escape shuttle boat shortly after putting catherine in the omnitool.

as you say pretty interesting story so far.

i've also started Outlast, not far in it yet...almost shat me pants at "you little pig!"

How far through it are you?

And what in particular don't you like, or do you just generally not like it?

I'm not very far into at all. Just killed that griffin thing at the start and found that brunette bird in that castle.

It's all a bit too talky not enough smashing monsters round the head so far.

And I've not read any of the bits about how to upgrade stuff so haven't a clue on all that. Looks too much hard work.

But it does look nice. And some bloke I was with lobbed a guys head off in a pub. Liked that bit.

Keep at it. It's great once you get into it.

I think I will. I'm just not engrossed in it all all. So far I should add.

You've only done what is essentially the tutorial then. Opens up massively after that.

Though at the end of the day it's an RPG so there's going to be dialogue. The dialogue is great though. Especially in the side quests and dlc. Stick with it :)
