Computer games.

If anyone doubts how FPS games are in general a soulless bunch of cash cows, there's the final nail.

It's a real shame too, it was once my go to genre... off the top of my head the ones that stand out are:

Timesplitters 2
Halo series
Half Life series
COD4
Red Orchestra series
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Counter Strike
Metrod Prime 1 and 2

Counter Strike is still huge. CS:GO is the one now. I wish I was good at it.

Timesplitters was amazing

Half Life 2 was boss

CoD4, my favourite game ever that.

From Future Perfect.

"CORTEZ YOU IDIOT"

Solid list otherwise. I've got about 2000+hours wasted on Counter-Strike 1.6 alone!

Not as huge, and CSGO is poop. In fact, everything made with the Source engine is poop - Half-Life was decent, TF2 and Portal are ace, CSS and CSGO are absolute garbage. People wanted an improved 1.6 and instead they got a CoD copy - well done VALVe. It's even more of a CoD copy now with GO.

It was booming on Twitch when I last went on it. One of the top games on there. Idk, must just be me thinking it's big as I'm not properly into it.

Timesplitters was amazing. Me and my mate used to always try and find co-op games to play when we were high and that was a great one. Not an FPS but Gears of War was class when it first came out for co-op.

It's booming on twitch as it's a COD copy to be fair, everyone that plays/played COD is now into it. It doesn't feel, look, or give you even a part of the experience from the previous versions.

It's not that it's a bad game, but when a game you've been playing for years gets this long-awaited "expansion" (in a way) - you expect it to improve the game, not completely change everything in it, and just to impress the competition players by making it look more or less like their game... Or just to make it more famous around these parts, as AFAIK no good players ever came from the UK lol - and even though that's a joke, more and more teams are starting to 'arise' from here, while every game looks more and more like CoD... coincidence? I THINK NOT!

Anyway, not saying I haven't played my fair share of both Source and GO - they just don't feel like CS to me any more. I recognise people might want to move on, but a lot of people (including pretty much everyone I know) aren't playing it either at all, or as much. It has it's fun aspects, or more challenging ones, but they're simply not for me, or anyone well into CS 1.6-and-previous (by the way, a TON of people still play 1.6!).
