Computer games.

Ah right, I cant advise you on which servers to join our man @Baines' left foot or @Cecil can help you with that.
The game that took over my life.

@bicycleheader when I first started during one of the lockdowns I joined a settlement and @Baines' left foot was the mayor, didn’t realise how much time I’d invest in it.

There’s official servers you can join. They’re quite lawless and you’ll find cheaters sometimes. You’re probably better off in a community server, if you want to put time in to it then most have a discord with rules and whatnot and folk to play with.

@Baines' left foot I probably won't stick long with it, but I'm on Gamepass and wanted to try my first survival type game....how do you actually play DayZ? I see loads of servers and I just want to play the 'normal' game
Zero and DayOne servers have always been pretty good for the ‘true’ vanilla gameplay style, but they can be full on. The game has become a LOT more PvP orientated over the last few years, which isn’t for me. I am personally not a huge fan of high pop servers where guns are ten a penny and prefer hardcore survival servers. I don’t recommend either of these for a new player, though.

My advice would be to join an empty or low pop vanilla community server with no mods on the Chernarus map. As @Cecil said, official servers are to be avoided. Community servers can be incredibly different from the base game and have a lot of variety.

In terms of actually playing the game, I would watch some YouTube videos on how to get started. A lot of people get frustrated and give up, but it’s a wonderful game if you give it some patience. There’s so many important things to know that would make this post a bit of an essay. You’ll die a lot and won’t know why sometimes, but that’s part of the fun.

What a time that was. I spent more hours a day living as my DayZ character than I did in my ‘real’ life.

The adventures, the glory, the defiance, the betrayal, and a revenge which resulted in the public flogging of one certain sack of scum.

Khelm had it all.
