I really don't get the "combat sucks" shouts. It's the classic thing that people do of having unrealistic expectations of something and then being disappointed that it isn't what they expected (even though it was never supposed to be that thing). People are disappointed it doesn't have Soul-like combat, it's baffling. It's like playing FIFA and being disappointed you can't pick the ball up and run with it.
I've heard Act 3 definitely has issues and feels a little unfinished. Characters that should be dead in your run reappearing, voice lines that makes no sense etc.
I'm about to start Act 3 I think (well like 10 hours away I'm guessing) so we'll see.
So far though, I've loved every second.
What do you mean I can't call an airstrike on the gnomes? Can't even first person and use an AK47? Demand a refund ffs.
They said literally at the start that it will be a D&D turn-based combat system, no idea how people are surprised by that.
It's defo heavier on the PC in act 3, load times increased and they've apparently cut out a pretty substantial part of it (without going into spoilers), but dataminers have found it's in the game, just not enabled basically, and the game keeps getting optimised time after time...
Last patch fixed that for a lot of them but some still appear to exist. Early on in our game Astarion knew about the Towers pretty much before we'd even gotten all the companions lol We hadn't even been told about that place, yet he was all "ah yeah we should definitely go there and do that" lol
That's been fixed apparently, and the hotfix stopped Gale from having knowledge of things before they happened circa late act2/early act3 lol
Same though, loving it. Hopefully the inevitable (for Larian games) definitive edition fixes a lot of the small things by the time it rolls out. So far slow and steady seems to be the practice, can't say I can fault them, it's a game full of things to do/read if you want to do that.
