Computer games.

Just upgraded PC to Ryzen 7 2700, and Radoen Vega 56 GPU.
Can play anything at max now up to arpund 1440p.

Old system was i7 4790 and a 970, still really capable at 1080p.

The new CPU has made a big difference in football manager can add more leagues and still process the game pretty quickly
Ermm...kept the receipt on that Ryzen 7 2700???

Ryzen 3000 series releases in under a month and they are looking like something special!

Bloody destiny

New update for the season pass went live last week I think? So I update it and wonder what i get for free. Start the quest and it's giving me higher level stuff which at this point is massively better than what I had (due to lack of grinding on my part).

Get to the final step on the quest and it puts me into the new activity they made , the menagerie and it's kinda fun. 6 man match made activity split into 6 parts to try and beat with rewards at the end.

So I think to myself I'll have another go at that, and it then LOCKS ME OUT OF IT UNLESS I BUY THE ANNUAL PASS. FFS

Turns out Activision are having a dig at bungie and are selling the pass now for only 12 quid from 30 the last I checked. So gave in and bought it.

The Division 2 has been free to play this weekend and I put a couple hours in yesterday and I have to say its quite fun. Really tempted to buy it but want to see a bit more before the free weekend ends.

#that feeling when you are happy with something new you bought, and then finds out you could have made a better choice
Normally I wouldn't begrudge the purchase, just AMD have made such a sizeable improvement between the 2000 & 3000 that it would be worth looking at returning and buying the new one.

What do I know though... He may have gotten a killer deal on the 2700 as they clear out stock for 3000....

Completed the driving school on GT Sport. What a blast from the past that was, it reminded me of when I first took the wheel of the Mazda Demio on the original PS1 game.

This game has fully pulled me in. I found myself following a YouTube streamer for the first time ever yesterday. Some guy called Super GT who must be the least annoying streamer I’ve ever seen/heard. The online races look intense as hell and I can’t wait to properly get going now.

You’ll love them mate. You do get the odd idiot but they’re usually so bad they get left behind after a while.

I’ve never won a race ever but a few third place finishes really keep me coming back!

I’m assuming that the more you play obviously the better you will become and will avoid the idiots more. Racing games have always been my favourites but the lack of sportsmanship with online racing completely spoils it.

Maybe I’ll see you on the race track ijjy.

I have blitzed the offline game with all golds but online I struggle badly. Either I'm being put with the best or as my G29 brake pedal is so stiff I can't brake anywhere near the limit or I'm useless.

I like to think it is one of the two earlier statements.

Does a wheel/pedals give you much of an advantage? I’m just using the PS4 pad.

It is much better from the point of realism and I would imagine far easier to in-game switch traction control/fuel rates/DRS etc. than on a controller. I suppose the issue is have you got space for a wheel? I built a little table for mine that I stash away when not in use but it means that my pedals are only held by the (admittedly good) carpet grips but the extra sprung brake means if I was to push for 100% it would move. I eventually would like to get a proper seat but space is a limiting factor at the moment.

I have had a wheel since when the PS3 first came out so I might not be the best person to ask as I couldn't imagine not using one.

I can highly recommend the Logitech G29. Although I was a bit miffed having to buy it as I had a perfectly good G26 but that wasn't compatible with the PS4. It is currently £180 but I got mine on Black Friday a couple years back for £120. It went down by a similar price last November.

You should see some of the rigs people on iRacing have... serious serious amount of money invested. That wheelbase alone is worth £1500 and it's not even one of the more expensive direct drive systems.

Yes it gives you a huge advantage, instead of controlling the steering with your thumbs you're steering with your arms like in real life, the inputs are natural... going round a long sweeping corner is so much easier with a wheel, everything is easier. There are still people who are boss with joypads but with practice they'd be even bosser with a wheel/pedals.

But how does it compare to real driving?
Like I’m a half decent driver. Done a few track days in mates rice burners and stuff, but is using a wheel on a computer that similar?
