Computer games.

Started up "X-COM 2" the other night (PS4). Really liked the first game on PS3, the second is great as well but maaaaan it's tough. Some ruthless enemy AI and tough decision-making to make.

Also been hammering the remastered FFX - beautifully put together, still some nuisance elements to it (the Blitzball!) but a terrific game even at nearly two decades old. Looking forwards to the remake of VII, that should be MEGA.

Never played FFVII Crisis Core - its was PSP only I believe. Is it any good?

Populous - there's a great title that seems sadly neglected now. I always liked that series. Due for a new entry or remake I reckon.

Used to love the PS1 X-COMs. Haven't played the new generation but heard they're good.

FFVII is my number one favourite game of all time, get goosepimps just thinking about that epic story. FFVIII was good, but never felt it was worth replaying, FFIX was utterly forgettable...by the time FFX came out and I heard the cheesy-sounding American voices I didn't bother anymore, tho' I've heard good things about FFXII. I replayed FFVII in 2012 for the first time since the 90's and it's still amazing, not just the story, but the gameplay & atmosphere is somehow perfectly moreish, even the battles and having to wait for the summons to finish. I hope they don't frak the remake up, but something tells me they will.

Remember Megalomania? That was a Populous-esque game, I think Megadrive-era...really fun.

Check out the PS3 X-Com and PS4 X-Com 2 - Awesomely addictive and absorbing (particularly the second one), very steep leariing curve but the sense of reward is immense. The hours just whiz by as you get into them.

Yeah FFVII is a landmark title - so much to like, the story, characters, battle system, mini-games.... the design and music is a triumph as well. FFVIII looks and sounds the business... but I wasn't into the emo-teen storyline and the "draw" magic system fried my head. I may return to it someday (got it on PSN).

I haven't properly got into FFIX ...yet. It has some great reviews and few mates swear by it. FFX - I can see how the voice acting is annoying - gameplay wise though I'm enjoying it, and as always with Square, the visuals and audio are masterful. FFXII looks very interesting - same design team as VII - but again I've not caught up with it yet. Being a parent of a 7-month old, you are lucky to get a couple of hours a week for video games - let alone footy!

FFVII: Crisis Core is meant to be boss - unfortunately it's only on the PSP and there are no plans (yet) to shift it to other platforms. A shame as I'd like to play out the prequel to VII.....

Is anyone lost with the naming/numbering of these titles yet? I can't keep up....

Yeah Megalomania was superb - Sensible Software always made great , varied titles.

Have to quickly mention, Still playing No Mans Sky Next. 30+ hours in and still playing it. They have done wonders with what was at first a interesting but largely flawed idea.
