How?
Honest question, as I really don't get it - how is it a good game? Sell the gameplay to me, the interactive experience.
You might have been hooked by the storyline perhaps, but there's millions of movies and books that could offer you the same thing; games can have compelling stories and indeed should do in many genres, however it needs to be moved forward through gameplay mechanics to keep the player interacting with the experience and thus engaged. That's why games are different to movies and books.
So what part of it in terms of being a game is good - because to me, these games are 'choose your own adventure' books in movie form, with pressing a button replacing finding a page number and turning to it. Which is fine - I'm sure for some, Detroit: Become Human is a fine example of that - but I can't for the life of me see how that equates to being a good 'game'.
I don't call Lord of the Rings a game because I turned the page over to progress the story when I read it, and Titanic wouldn't be a game if "Press X to shag in a car" popped up on the screen in the cinema.
I can't be bothered really mate. You've made your mind up about these games and your fat YouTube hero apparently feels the same.
To be fair, I didn't like these games either. I tried loads of the Telltale games, even Back To The Future which surely I MUST like, but couldn't get on with them.
Detroit is different, very different, but the best way for you would be to try the demo. But you won't of course. You are right that it is very much like a 'Choose your own Adventure' game almost. But you say that as if it's a bad thing. For me that's a good thing.
What I don't get is why you clearly don't like these games, but have gone out of your way to watch videos about it, and post on here about it. That seems odd to me.
I don't like rugby, so I don't watch it or post about it.
