Does anybody here use a 4K display ? (not MAC )

Does it upscale 1080 p in a somewhat decent manner to 4 K. I've got an excellent GPU but I don't think 4K will be possible for every game.

I'm not particularly bothered by 4K to be honest. I just want to try it out to see if it's less tiring on the eyes.

I have one, but I have it set to 1440p instead. The performance loss versus visual gains on a 28" thats only about ~1m from me just isn't worth it. There's also refresh rate to consider; most for under £500 have 60Hz or less. If you want high refresh rate AND 4K, you'll be looking toward the £1000 mark.
Also consider screen size and how far you'll be sitting from it. 4K on a smaller display will leave you with small UI elements in various games which might be hard to see.
I'd recommend 1440p if you're considering around the 27-28" mark. G-SYNC/Freesync are something to look out for, too. Higher the refresh rate, the better.

Just invested 14 English pounds into the witcher 3 goty edition. Hoping I get along with it this time!

Also 4 quid on batman arkham city and .69p on deus ex invisible war.

Thank you mate.

Yes same here. I also only sit +- 1 meter away from the screen and for me 27-28 inch is the maximum since I do a lot of reading of documents on the screen and if it's a larger screen you constantly have to move your head about.

My LG screen was working quite well until they rolled out the Creator's update. For some reason the update makes previous LG colour profiles unusable (everything becomes very dim; or very bright). There is a sort of a work around but it isn't the same as it was before the update. I also tried numerous calibrations but they provided unsatisfactory results. Quite unlikely that they'll be releasing new colour profiles since it's a 2015 screen. Can't roll back Windows for a number of reasons. So buying a new screen is the easiest solution. It's actually painful on the eyes ffs.

Thanks I'll buy a 1440 p one with a high refresh rate.

Dont buy a 4k display and then use it at a lower resolution, image quality is drastically reduced running at non native resolutions... kinda defeats the point of getting a monitor with a good image.

1440p 27" Gsync 144hz+ monitors are the best set of specs for gaming currently (provided you have a Gsync capable Nvidia GPU). Higher refresh rate is far more important than going 4k.

If you really want to game at 4k and have a recent(ish) Nvidia card you can use DSR to upscale your current resolution to 4k for gaming

I have a 1070 Gtx, good card imo but won't be suited to play everything in 4K. Does your monitor have a TN panel or an IPS/VA one?

Mine are IPS, the older 144hz version of this model.

1070 is more than good enough for 1440p btw

Thank you mate. Asus seems quite nice since they also have the no-flicker and low blue settings to help your eye-sight a bit (as said I'll also use it for a lot of reading). Zowie monitors also appear to be quite popular but they don't use g-sync since apparently they are aimed at e-sporters and they don't seem to care about synchronisation techniques; only performance.

Yes but it won't do for 4K, apparently even a single 1080 will struggle to some degree in some games if you want fluent gameplay. Much prefer fluent gameplay.
