Correct. So you will need some isopropyl alcohol and some q-tips to clean the stuff off, then get yourself some decent TIM like Arctic Silver 5, rather than the overly generous amount of goop they include on the stock heat sink.

Well fingers crossed if I strip it back the CPU is fine as that sounds like a faff.

If I strip everything back to just having the PSU and MOBO connected (and front panel etc.) and it turns on, am I okay to hold the power button in to keep turning it off when I’m adding more connections?
No. Only add more stuff with the power completely off, with no chance of power being applied.

What I mean is if I have just say MOBO and CPU connected to PSU, should I then turn it on to check fans work, check it all comes on. Then turn off. Add a new connection. Try it again. Turn off etc?

You will need mobo, cpu, 1 stick of ram and gpu to be able to post.

Then add the cpu fan to its header. Then you can add the SSD. then the Case fans/rgb crap

Put your GUPU inside her header and RAM that little SSD until your Trojan Worm has SPAM COOKIED that Firewall all over the shop.

I’ve tried to make a bit of a connections diagram based on memory (not at PC now) if anyone can see if something stands out as wrong? Hope the Google Sheets link works:

Oh...its a B450 mobo........did it come with firmware enabling Ryzen 3000?

Or do you need to flash a new bios via USB on the MSI 'Flashback' feature?

IIRC Ryzen 3000 won't post on a mobo with incompatible firmware.

I checked it out for him before he got all his parts. The Max version has 3600 support from the first BIOS rev. Still may want to flash it with newest though, especially at this stage. Could have a bent pin on the CPU...I was surprised AMD is still using PGA and not BGA. Pulling the CPU again is such a PITA, but if needs must after trying other options... @Nymzee

Well I tried stripping back the install just to the major components but I got even less of a response than the first time so I’ve just got a local IT guy coming tonight to take a quick look before I fry something/anything else. Hopefully can show me where the fault is.
