Come on the Blues

The thing about Martinez more than anything else is his positivity. He is always positive about the players in the press and singing their praises. Imagine how much confidence you must get when you have a manager showing that level of faith and belief in you. Barkley is of course the prime example. He knows now he can make an error and he isn't going to spend the rest of the season playing in the Championship. Barkley looked petrified to make a mistake last season and it hampered his game. Now he is already being compared to Paul Gascoigne by some parts of the media. This thread also shows the feel good attitude he is producing!

Totally agree.

Giving somebody some responsibility can be the making of that person. Let them make mistakes without fear of reprisal and they will flourish. If they try to perform with an axe over their head they may falter.

I love Martinez for this approach.

Just up after a long night at work and reading this put a smile on my face. After Saturday I am a bit more optimistic than I was at start of season. If we could get results against hammers and barcodes and by that I mean 6 points, the sky is the limit.

Nothings won in mid september. It's a long hard season that takes a lot of everyone.

Ain't that the truth.

But if 40 odd years of watching EFC have taught me anything it is to live in the moment.

And at this precise moment I haven't felt as good about the Blues, nor as opimistic, in a very long time.

:)

I think, apart from when I was a kid with big Joe, this is the most excited I've been about the club.

The unseen side of this is important too.

Every 18.19.20yr old player in our set up is watching the manager put his faith in lads they know and have played with. They know if they work hard enough and they've got the talent they're in.

The coaches know that if they put the hard work in with these lads they'll get to see the end result it deserves if it's good enough and promising players in the lower leagues know that EFC is a club where you get your chance. You're not there to stop another club having you or to make up the numbers.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Tony Hibbert!

How great would it be to see him score a belter against Man Utd - to seal a 3-2 win with Moyes fuming?

Or better still at the Anfield derby we are 4-0 up and cruising in the second half - confirming our return to the top of the table and then we get a penalty with two minutes left and up steps Tony Hibbert.......

.......and he delicately chips it down the middle leaving the keeper for dead.

Now that'd be something eh?!
