Whilst every Everton fan of a certain age had Ball as their favourite player, my old man's favourite was Harvey.

23 years ago today we beat Southampton 7-1 so that was a good present for him that day.

I used to be on nodding terms as I drank in the same pub and went to the same club afterwards. He was all the good things we need today and could tackle from the side -I never have seen it done the same since ,for me that was his and his alone . Great player worth many caps but was unfortunate in his timing any other time he would have owned the position in the England team .Yes I am blue to the core but I have known many supporters of other clubs say the same .Hand on heart it was a privilige to watch him .Happy birthday Colin and thanks .

Sublime ball skills and the instinct of a terrier. Memories of Colin and Bally are just about the only reason left for supporting the now shambolic set up.

Good player good coach sadly perhaps too nice to be the manager.
TBH he was not cut out to be Man Manager - he could communicate hard as a coach, but not as a Manager he was strict as after being under his mentor The Catt - he tried this tactic in a different era , and it did not work hence whe Howard came back he slotted happily as his no 2 again.....
A fantastic player, a great coach, and a a true Blue - Happy Birthday to the last one standing of the best midfield this club will ever see - their football was uncoached just telepathic combination of dazzling movements in midfield playing on mud bath pitches v hatchet men in that era.....
