Club Statement: Coronavirus

Our last game was 8th March, 4 weeks ago.
The league is on hold until 2nd May at the earliest, which is 4 weeks away.
The end of the season was supposed to be the 17th May, which is 2 weeks after that.

Given the NHS has taken the step of informing people in the so called vulnerable category to not leave the house for 12-13 weeks, I don't see how it would be reasonable or fair to start allowing crowds of 40,000+ people from all around the country to congregate and potentially nullify this preventative step for the sake of a game.

12 weeks from now would be the weekend of 27th/28th June. The initial suggestion that games would have to finish by the end of June, or even July, would be impossible without playing games behind closed doors, which still holds its own problems. As people have stated, the possibility of an injury like Gomez suffered vs Spurs would leave a massive question mark over players safety, and some players like Rooney have already raised this discussion.

Personally, I'm not convinced the Premier League are actually interested in finishing the season at all. I think they believe if they could just get it started up with games behind closed doors for as many games as it takes for Liverpool to be mathematically declared champions, then decide that logistically, it can't continue, and finish the season in earnest, for the apparent health of the nation. It would show intent, allow them to draw a line under 1 contractual obligation, and allow them to plan ahead for the following season with minimum disruption. I imagine it would also involve a hefty additional parachute payment to the 3 relegated teams to compensate for their agreement.

At the end of the day, it's all about money.

Take the games from this season were teams have played each other twice and call that the final standings.

Reckon it would work out a 19 or 20 game season.

We'd lose the Wolves win but also wipe out Sheff Utd and Norwich losses as an example so not sure how we would fare at the end.

The deputy CMO said today if we lift restrictions too early we will have wasted all the efforts made so far to suppress the virus through social distancing. That sounds to me like the kibosh on the season.
It's true, if the spread is slowing its because were staying it, dosent mean we can all go out again, it hasnt gone away.
Season is well and truly over

Bit of a grim argument if you think Everton should do it despite it being wrong because you want them to win more games of football
Where oh where did I say that ,I said business is harsh and not to blame the club if they find it is the only way forward given that all others had taken that line .I never mentioned results just the mere existence of the club as an entity .Please do not put words in my mouth to further your views.

I think the litmus test should be this -- would using the furlough plan stop your business from going under? If so, then by all means avail yourself. But a football club with 43 million in pre-tax profit is in no danger of bankruptcy. At least not financially. Morally, they're as bankrupt as they come.
Who or which club are we on about here ? Everton ( The only one I am interested in ) did not make a 43 million profit unless my name is Ripvanwinckle and if you are on about the other crowd then please leave my comments out of it as they never mention the Sh1te

That is no solution though is it ,there will still be unfair winners and losers .

Take the results from the first half of the season? Then everyone has played each other but home/away makes a massive difference as we all know. We’d be what 17th?

No only take the games were teams have played each other twice.
There are 9 teams we haven't played twice which means we have played 10 so would make it a 20 game season home and away.
We'd lose the RS, Sheff Utd and Norwich defeats off the top of my head.
