Clapping Naismith

Nothing at all to do with Sky. I used to get that off kopites as a kid. I now say it to other kids, regardless of shirt, and tell them they're crap and Everton are the best. Nothing to do with Sky whatsoever. It's because I'm a blue. Nothing more, nothing less.
I don't know how old you are but if like me you remember the 60's/70's then who would kopites say they hated the most ? Us....and being their rival club within the same city rightly so.
Ask the question who are your fiercest rivals now and the answer would be Man utd, despite the fact they've hardly been competitors of theirs for the past 25 yrs. A media contrived rivalry.

Nah, Norwich are our new nemesis...damn them.

What's that got to do with clapping Naismith?

Don't clap an opposition goal and don't clap the opposition goalkeeper. Half of them don't clap back anyway and end up being booed. We are supposed to make the opposition feel intimidated, let's not clap them. A game can be won before kick off if the crowd can unsettle the opposition.

At the expense of going off on a tangent, sky aren't interested in tribalism , they prefer to promote the 'bigger' cllubs who have a large worldwide following.
I cant count the number of people under 25 who when i'm on holiday and my 12yr old is wearing his Everton shirt ask him why does he support them as 'they're crap'.
I would suggest that such sentiments have a direct correlation with the sky era.

I'm sure you've explained to your lad that ' Being an Evertonian is more than just winning football matches and glory, it's the manner in which you deal with the high's and low's.

He doesn't require an explanation but he would like a few more tangible highs

You mean the one where I said it was nothing to do with sky?
Yeah , what I was trying to explain is that when you bump into younger people from outside Merseyside they question why he would choose Everton over one of the larger 'sky' teams. After all the younger generic football followers are brainwashed by the media to only consider the so called bigger teams, eg when was the last time a Man U cup game wasn't televised live.
They've even undermined the Merseyside Derby by creating a larger rivalry between the R S and Man U, 2 of the sky faves. We're not considered large enough to be a main rival to a sky big club.
As. I said off on a tangent.

There's always been a Manc-Scouse rivalry mate. It's more about the two sets of people rather than the football clubs themselves.
