Christian Atsu

He is always going to be only a backup player for us in this season I believe. If all of Mirallas, Pienaar and McGeady will be ok to play, I will be happy to see him on the bench. If needed, I believe he is a typical confidence player and could be decent after a few games, but hopefully we won't need to play him much at all, I don't want to see us improving another Chelsea's player and getting them a top money. I will rather wait for summer when hopefully Bobby will buy Depay or a player of a similar quality, who is way better player than Atsu. Or if Martinez believes Atsu could be a top player for us, than buy him cheaply after not playing him at all this year.

Still feeling his way into things. Chronic lack of minutes on the pitch isn't helping.
I agree with what you say mate. But also, as @weltonblue posted, his task to impress has been made very large by young deulofeu's last season impact/performance.
So, taking into account these two considerations, Atsu has an uphill battle to impress...but we certainly need to cut him some slack

If we can seal the deal against Wolfsburg, I'd hope he starts against Krasnodar. Looks like he'd be knocked down by a feather at the moment, but definitely needs more minutes.

I think he will be an important player by the end of the season. He is playing at a big club, the expectations I are high and he's playing a bit safe but there is a defo a good player there.

I was super excited when we got him. I'd seen him play at Porto and for Ghana and he really is a big talent.
He cost Chelsea 3million and it would shock me if there wasn't an option to buy at the end of this loan period (god knows he has no future at CFC)- the incentive for him to perform will definitely be there
Roberto has said he'd only be ready by about the 2nd half of the season- he wouldn't have featured at all last night if we weren't 3-0 up.
He's played well in Portugal, Holland, Champions League, African Cup of Nations, World Cup. Would be foolish to write him off. Be patient, because if he comes good then we'll probably get ourselves a solid player. If he doesn't by the end of the season, well then he goes back to Chelsea and then off to Hull.
But I'm confident he'll come right.

Give the lad a chance to get some game time. All it takes is for him to start a game and grow into it while getting use to our style of play. Stop comparing him to what we have or did have. He did well on loan elsewhere and i trust Bobbys judgement to bring him in.He looks nervous and afraid to have a go but up to fans and players to enscourage him to trust his ability

He's a young lad, needs a bit of confidence to get going! Still getting used to his team mates etc! Would be ideal if the job gets done in Germany then he should start against Krasnodar! Really hope the lad does well

Can see Chelsea wanting shut of him at the end of the season. Can't see them loaning him out again and I think they will want him to either play a part in the team next season or get rid of him in the summer and up to now I havent seen anything from him to think he would get near Chelsea's starting 11
