People in football talk all the time and talk about players all the time. There is a grapevine of information that managers tap into and I think most would be generous with their information.
The problem for the better clubs(Everton obviously included)is that as you continue to get better it gets harder and more expensive to improve your squad. In effect the number of good cheap players available are fewer and fewer.When you work on a restricted budget then the problem becomes all the greater.
