Pretty sure Greg OK said we are likely to get both Atsu and another striker in. The manager knows what he is doing so we will just have to wait and see.

Valence came because we offered him a good wage. How can you say he offers scouting advice? Or as if Moyes would ask or accept it with his ego, the same goes for signing players. Plus up until the last few hours Lukaku was off back to West Brom and he reckons he's choose to come to Everton after a Mirallas and Fellaini told him it was the place for him right at the last minute.

Mourinho serves no one but himself, in fact even the clubs he work at he loves to create conflict amoungst the staff and hierarchy, there's no way he looks out for anyone else other than himself.

When Valente returned to Europe after leaving Everton, he was officially an Everton scout for a while, on the payroll.
 

We all know that players can be recommended to a manager by any number of sources.

Mourinho would be aware of an enormous number of players through the Chelsea scouting network. The bar however will be set very
high for any player to join a club like Chelsea. Mourinho may think a player will be a very good player but maybe not quite Chelsea standard or it may be an area that he already has well covered. If RM were to enquire about a Chelsea player it I possible that Mourinho might say that his player was not available but RM shoulh look at...
People in football talk all the time and talk about players all the time. There is a grapevine of information that managers tap into and I think most would be generous with their information.

The problem for the better clubs(Everton obviously included)is that as you continue to get better it gets harder and more expensive to improve your squad. In effect the number of good cheap players available are fewer and fewer.When you work on a restricted budget then the problem becomes all the greater.
