apparently we weren't that good to him in his last year.

He rejected a 3 year deal last season from bournemouth but decided to stay with us on a 1 year deal because we made him promises, but didn't follow through.

Still loves Everton just doesn't like how he was treated, and wants to get first team football.

Plus the money helps, at Burnley.

Best of luck to him really though meant to be a sound lad.

If he didn't make it to the "phenomenal" list what chance did the boy have?

haha ..

I think it's fair to question Martinez re: instances like this .. and demand answers. I think most people on this forum would contend that Long was not given the same opportunity as Kone to make his mark but these things are never properly explained to us, we speculate .. and often it turns negative. Now, Martinez may think that he does not owe us any explanation .. and this may be the case with most clubs .. but this is Everton and we are Evertonians, information now El Spico !

So do I if I was a young no 9 behind the Kone I would want out!
Kone looks finshed too me two seasons of injury , and inept performances hearts were so bad , and he could not score!
Kone's confidence is shot plus he's made of glass.
Hopefully we have a buy-back clause in case Long comes good. We need some more local lads in the squad.

who knows
We have seen it before under another EFC manager in James Beattie one pen in one season kept Vaughny and Victor out - Victor scored two v Newcastle , and was dropped for that other 6 million waste of space - Managers do it feel justified to play a player they have wasted money on to just see if they ever come good the juries been sat out a while on Kone!

Who can blame the lad. Seeing kone ahead of him on the bench week in week out is enough to break anyone. Good luck to him, sound lad by all accounts, hope he does well at burnley.

Good point to think we play Kone ahead of him would force you to leave!

Think we may end up regretting this one, Burnley are very good in the transfer market at identifying that type of striker to play alongside a big guy. Rodriguez, Austin, Ings all have been in the space of 5 years and going off longs goal record considering he barely started a game at Brentford he will score goals for fun in the championship when he gets more game time and experience.

Looking at Longs record in the championship last season he averaged a goal every 79 minutes, pretty impressive goal rate that for your first experience of competition football in the 2nd highest league in england

Is Chris Long better than McAneley? Looks like he obviously wasn't in Martinezs plans for the sole reason he didn't rate him so wish him luck elsewhere.

Kone would struggle at Raith Rovers so what difference does your logic make of that point?
LONG has gone seeing that deadbeat ahead of him!

What does a premiership manager earn per week ? , 30k, 40k, 50k ?
It must the easiest job in the world, there are so many people on here who could do it with their eyes closed.
