I want to see both him and McAlney getting a chance next season

Send one of Hope, McAlney or Long on loan and have the other two as first team back up
McAleny isn't quite good enough and is already 22, Long could be decent as a 3rd choice tho I agree.

Yeah I think you could be right, I hope he does obviously but you don't see many lone strikers with his build at this level.

Like here, he scores the first 2 Brentford goals, but I doubt he'd be able to turn premier league defenders as easily as he does with his first one. I mean he knows where the net is though, he could probably be a good 'plan B' type player when we want to try something different.

His pass on 0:22 is class if he meant it

So Mikey, you would like Hope (who doesn't play for us any more*); McAleny (who is nearly 23 and finding it hard to keep injury-free and get game time at Cardiff); and Long (who is probably the best of the three but equally not establishing himself in front of others in the first team at Brentford) to all be part of our plans next year.

I would dearly love for the backbone of our team to be made up of Academy prospects but that doesn't mean that even a large minority will ever make it into the first team squad. None of the above have so far shown anything like Vaughan or Anichebe and, in the end, those two weren't good enough either. (To be fair, Vaughan - a bit like McAleny - suffered a bit of a horror stretch with injuries at a critical time in the career.)

* Hope doesn't even appear on the Bury stats or first team squad on their website.

I hope this kid gets a chance in summer to play meaningfull time for the first team in pre-season. It seems for me he is exactly the type of an extra striker you want to bring in to win the match.

.....good point, he's been a lucky boy being bought into the league. I stand by my point, though, that forwards are a rare breed to bring through.
In Bold a BOY he is 32 plus he looks crocked RM has to realise he is past it when he makes comments like "I could not risk Kone on the artificial pitch because of his knees" - away in Russia - Kone did not even travel - yet gets a chance he looks woefully unfit lost his pace he had at Wigan,
All I am saying is give the kids a chance before him!

think kone lost his pace when he hurt his knee. was a manly pacey striker who hurt his knee at 30+- wasn't likely to come good after that haha

He looks okay, nothing special. Talk of a loan move to burnley so guess we'd sort a contract out for him in that case
