Just throw VAR in the bin, it's one of the many things destroying proper footy. Referees and particularly linesman might actually start taking responsibility during games and make a decision. There'll always be the blatant gaff, but VAR was supposed to end that, but I swear it's increased.
VAR isnt the problem. There are still bent humans operating it. Took two mins to get it wrong, those two mins, Tierney could have just gone and had a look at himself and gone yes or no. Better spent two minutes. Situations like that are not helping the refs on the pitch at all.
Open the communicaiton line for public hearing, make refs do interviews after games. That will give them some accountability and you know what, when there is a debatable decision. The ref can come out and explain his side, and he'll get some repsect and understanding for it, even if people don't agree.
At the moemnt they get a blatent decision wrong and theres no accountability, no "Well, this is how I saw it at the time". It's just pure silence and hollow apologies that are reactive and too late. If a referee, who is in charge of the match knows he will have a couple of questions asked at full time. Do you think Paul Tierney leaves that in the hands of Kavanagh? or says, im facing the music, I'm going to go and make the decision myself as its me whos head is on the chopping block and at least this way I can provide justification for a decision.
Lawyers have to justify their arguments, judges have to abide by the law and apply appropriately. Referee's are the same with football laws. They have to be in a position where they have to justify their decisions.
