I think that last is a legit request. I hear Emerson was what most would call unemployed throughout his life.

I have visited Xinjiang and have seen the day to day oppression of the Uyghurs first hand.
What is the justification for them being treated like this?
I found it very sad speaking to Uyghurs out there and the hardship they experience.
And this was just the day to day stuff, not the camps they are being detained in or murders.
They are just completely treated like crap and harrassed and intimidated regularly by police and soliders, and racially abused by other chinese citizens.

Feels simplistic to me. Sure the media will play a role, but is there a genuine potential issue. I'm curious to know if China depicts similar issues with Western tech, for example.

In my limited understanding of the issue, it is that China has a law than can force tech companies to hand over all data to the govt if required. So in theory, the Chinese govt has access to everyones data that they have provided to any apps or hardware made by a Chinese company.

Not sure if it has ever actually happened though

Either are the waters around the man made sand bars in the Spratley Islands.
