Death Penalty: World’s biggest executioner China must come clean about ‘grotesque’ level of capital punishment
China's horrifying use of the death penalty remains one of the country’s deadly secrets, as the authorities continue to execute thousands of people each year, Amnesty International said in its 2016 global review of the death penalty published today.www.amnesty.org
Paranoia can be generated fairly easily. Be interesting to see if the US try banning AliExpress. Their app is fairly widespread I'm sure the general public can be convinced it's harvesting all of their data.Feels simplistic to me. Sure the media will play a role, but is there a genuine potential issue. I'm curious to know if China depicts similar issues with Western tech, for example.
Mutual paranoia and mistrust if you will.

TikTok in China and in the west aren't one and the same according to my mate who works for ByteDance here in the UK. They're run separately too.It (social media) is all banned, IIRC. TikTok is as well.
Do they not think we (the west) are a great bunch of lads then?TikTok in China and in the west aren't one and the same according to my mate who works for ByteDance here in the UK. They're run separately too.
In terms of Chinese social media, it's WeChat and Sina Weibo that are in the main players, with the western apps being banned or heavily restricted.
so all in all, pretty good thenwith the western apps being banned or heavily restricted.
In a general sense, TikTok in China is aimed to providing education and support - it's far more culturally mature in the sense of what it shows.Do they not think we (the west) are a great bunch of lads then?
People I know who’ve done teaching in China have been explicitly told beforehand they’re not allowed to mention the ‘three T’s’ Tibet, Taiwan and Tiananmen. Not Tony Hibbert, Tom Davies and Tory Frank Lampard apparently.Do they not think we (the west) are a great bunch of lads then?
As @hktoffee diplomatically stated, Tibet is none of anyone's business, especially the people of TibetPeople I know who’ve done teaching in China have been explicitly told beforehand they’re not allowed to mention the ‘three T’s’ Tibet, Taiwan and Tiananmen. It is mad. Don’t agree with western imperialism or western centric discourse but at least we don’t tell any foreign visitors they can’t discuss the Iraq war or our PM getting a blowie off a pig.As @hktoffee diplomatically stated, Tibet is none of anyone's business, especially the people of Tibet
The US have identified everyone and their dog as a threat to security though, to be fair.Well the US have identified China as a danger to everybody's security,so I imagine the UK MSM will concur,so it's a done deal.
That's something I can truly get behind, for no geographical reason naturally.
