Under Moyes it seemed that choosing the best of the teams / lower leagues worked to give us a solid team - but we seemed to have chosen the worst - Burnleys Keane, Swanseas Sigurdsson, Palaces Bolasie
The table isn't reflecting that really. Burnley and Palace looking like they could very well finish above us.

We are miles away from a top 4 challenge, sadly it's the harsh truth that dawned on us all today.
Yes 5 top top players are needed to change that, a commanding Cm is top of that list then a commanding CB, DCL has improved but still we need a big game striker and a winger ours are only average, then come to playmaker we have Sigs (now that laughable) so that’s another area to sort.

It's interesting to ponder on who has reacted well to Ancelotti - DCL, Richarlison, Gomes, Walcott, Holgate - and who hasn't - Digne, Siggy, Keane, Bernard.

Bernard was excellent initially, had two of his strongest games coming in From the left, finding space making things as happen.

He looks lost on the right. Today probably wasn’t then game for him, surprised he didn’t start ahead.

Every player apart from maybe the goalie was embarrasing.

Here's the thing, though...Pickford can't say shiz because he's been as inconsistent in his position as just about everyone else. There's one person, Richarlison, (poss two with Mina) who's held a fairly high standard since day one of this season. Tough to build on that and it begins to wear on said players. You have to be able to share the load.

We need a bare minimum of two very expensive (ie. consistent and match-winners) players...

Lampard starts by saying it was our 'most complete' performance at home this season because of the goals and the clean sheet. He adds we have had other home games like that this season when we haven't found the finishing touch. Today was different in that respect.

Lampard: 'The whole attitude and focus of the team felt really strong today after Liverpool. There was pure focus in the group. Maybe the injuries helped out in that respect. The application was spot on. Now we have to work to show we can finish the season strongly.'

Lampard says we played to Olivier Giroud's strengths today and he is 'playing really well' at the moment. 'He is a personality and we need that'

Lampard makes a note of praising Kepa, Marcos Alonso, Pedro and Ross Barkley after their performances today, noting all have been out of the team at times but have come in and given everything, while working hard in training

Lampard says Gilmour received the ball in dangerous areas but was confident to do so. The boss was delighted with the overall balance of his midfield today and their ability to get forward and threaten.

This stat tells you all you need

Ross Barkley’s game by numbers vs. Everton:

100% final third pass accuracy
100% cross accuracy
100% tackles won
98% pass accuracy
8 ball recoveries
7 successful take-ons
6 chances created
3 shots (2 on target)
2 assists
That just shows how demoralised he was by being boo'd by our fans (until Chelsea scored). Grow up lads and move on, he left us 2 years ago!!

We need to buy players who can win. We have too many average players who seem to believe all this nonsense about Everton challenging for a European spot. To be talking about Everton and top 4 is to delude ourselves. It is time for reality to bite, we are a mid-table team, with mid-table players, and because they think they are better than they are and don't seem to think they need to put in a shift and if the continue to have this attitude they will finish in the bottom half.
