the result is [Poor language removed] depressing but it was a tight game and we all loved AJ popping up at the death vs arsenal, so its a case of balance.

jags started and played in the middle throughout today and did well, hopefully thats a sign of the future.

man ure are the league champions and will turn a few sides over this season, one nil is hard to take but we gave a decent account of ourselves considering howard, cahill, and gravesen were all missing.

its going to take time for yakubu (strong as an ox - shape of him, a good fighter) and AJ to get used to one another and learn a few tricks.

baines is a scorcher, really impressed with the lad so far, real quality and a left foot, confidence and speed.

lets go to old trafford and right this wrong.

Agree.. not many teams can take on ManU and with a straight face say aftewards that they didn't deserve to loose. We held the play up well against them.. even with both Gravesen, Cahill and Vaughan out with injuries. True neither of them might have started the game anyway.. but it's three players that could have made a difference today... especielly Gravesen.

Another good thing to see was Baines again as LB, looks extremely good. Can't be far from an england call up now if he keeps this up. Also Jags in the centre looked well. One or two shots that flew high, but otherwise good.

Yak looked good at top as well. Strong, able to keep defenders away.. too bad both his shots lacked fire today.

Both teams deserved a draw, but lots of times these tight games are decided by one goal and unfortunately we were on the wrong end of things...
Arteta back to his brilliance, Baines was superb, Jagielka did great as well.

good thread, it's not the end of the world lads, better days ahead for us, this team is unrecognisable from the one we had five years ago, there's potential here, Moyes is building a solid, confident side, not to mention one that is capable of playing attractive classy football, the future's blue.

One of the first comment before the game from one of the commentators where: "This is the best squad Everton have had in a very long time".. can't find a fault in that.

Yeah nobody deserved to win really and we did have tommy, timmy, howard and vaughan out good times ahead.
The only thing that i didn,t like was neville in central midfield he needs to start at right back and talking of full backs baines was superb

i agree. neville should replace hibbert at right back. if anyone has seen the goal they will see poor defending from hibbo for the goal.

AJ scoring against Arsenal was like the 3rd time in about 10 years that we've scored a last gasp winner. It's just horrible to lose to a set piece in the last ten when the entire game has been a stalemate and generally average in terms of quality play.

I finished my lunch break thinking that we'd probably draw 0-0. I didn't find out we'd lost until my afternoon break at half 3. I was bloody gutted, but whilst I was bored out of my skin for the last couple of hours I just began to reflect on things a little and decided that really, we're still in a great position. I won't bore you with the details of my rambling thoughts, but I still think we're going to have a cracking season.

yeah. a real shitty way to lose from a corner.

and mcfadden looked superb for 3 minutes. what a shame he did not come on earlier with the confidence and form he is on.

Baines was brilliant, not seen many defenders take the piss out of Ronaldo and his tricks.

I agree Baines made Ronaldo look Decidedly average, best left back in the league by far I reckon. (if he continues to play to this standard.)

Sorry but more credit to Vidic to getting to the ball first than putting the onus on Hibbert there. If you want to blame anyone in a blue shirt for that goal, blame Yobo for letting him get away from him in the first place.

That was just a well taken goal and not unlike what Lescott did to Bolton two weeks ago.

I just feel if we had brought Faddy on sooner it might have been us that won but considering the difference in squad costs we have to take the positives the last two games against them we deserved at least a draw, would like a new right back for christmas as tony Hibb is a good squad player but as the team improve his lack of ability becomes more apparent same goes for Phil Nev and while it was disappointing to lose to a set piece a change in goal doesnt help the defence not that I attach any blame on the keeper I felt they would have been better focused with our normal defence have to say I thought Baines was superb to day
