Anyway, the problem with the pace thing and the 67 points being for 5th place is that it doesn't take into account that we play the three teams directly above us in the coming weeks.

Well, it's actually WORSE than that; it similarly doesn't take into account the fact the some of the other teams directly above us all play each other--in addition to us. The table is very, very limited--it is meant for trivia, not gambling.

Fully agree--I don't think I've said that we need any specific number of points this season; I've just said that historically, we would need this many. While history does not determine what happens today, this forum--and every other forum on the planet--is filled to the brim with discussions comparing one year to another. This is no different.
