2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

I'm happy to debate any of Moyes's shortcomings, but it changes nothing about Alcaraz's mistakes ultimately costing us 2 points last night. Yes, there are plenty of other incidents you can point to, but his two crucial errors in the last 60 seconds are the most critical ones as there's no time to fix them
And that means scapegoat. The same for Paterson. Puting them on the pitch to play injury time with O games before since last year vs MC . What Moyes though??!! It's Insane

It's a bit harsh to blame him for goal. Patterson is closest man to Doku but slips.
Some of the comments are over the top.
Again, if it was just the one mistake I would probably be less angry with him, but it was the brain-dead way he allowed them to actually have that last attack as well which compounded it.

You cant blame him for that goal it was a superb finish. Look at Patterson the player who was most likely to put Doku off slipped on his ***. Could Alcaraz committed earlier yes. But so could Garner for the first one.

Both unbelievable strikes

The lad has his two pearlers with his left and right foot.

Not seen Doku hit those types of shots and generally his shooting is poor never mind with either foot.

Closing him down, yes, totally. But the stat heads at all clubs generally say the chances of them going in from that range are low. Hence why you hardly see strikes outside the box.

All in all...im not gonna blast our players for those Doku goals.

The Halaand one is a different story.

Just stopping in to note that an Attacking Midfielder who has played 5 minutes in three months was brought on to see off the best team in the league in stoppage time. Along with a failed RB who hadn't played at all in the same time period.

No mate. They need to excel from the bench whatever the pressure.

He was really really poor. It's another example in a long list this season of a player coming off the bench and having the wrong impact on the game.

It's not as simple as saying Moyes should use his bench more because there have been plenty of examples of our performance levels falling off significantly after we make changes. The Derby was the most obvious example.
Yeah those were the worst 5 minutes I've ever seen on the pitch.... He hasn't had any opportunities to regain fitness then he's thrown on in dying ember of the game because Moyes ran down his starters , so you're castigating him for a stupendous goal because you need a scapegoat.

I agree that the players have a responsibility, that’s not what I’m saying.

Do you not also see that those same players who Moyes has sparingly used might be a bit rusty when they are called upon as they have hardly played any football, so mistakes can happen?

The two things are linked, hence why I stated Moyes can get away with murder with some fans.

If your bench isnt match fit and fresh to come on surely you dont sub them on in the dying minutes against man city?

I judge footballers on their decision making. Given what he did on the third goal if I was a manager he would never play for me again. Utterly brainless trying to head the ball to Barry when the team is winning 3-2. Simply head it towards the corner flag and chase the ball. Even then he didn't know how to press Doku from the corner.

It's not just him as the team generally lacks basic football IQ. Someone like Rohl would have headed it forwards for himself to chase.
