I still don't agree with Moyes' treatment of him this season. It always seems to happen with some managers where they hold certain players to different standards than others and it seems that way with Moyes. He doesn't seem to like that Alcaraz loses the ball a bit but forgives Dewsbury Hall or Iroegbunam doing it. And he is still weirdly persisting with giving McNeil minutes when it's like playing with 10 men having him on.
Alcaraz had some off moments tonight but his desire to carry us forward and be positive helped win us the game. Plenty of Everton midfielders wouldn't have had the positivity he did to go forward and find Grealish for the goal. Should have scored on Saturday but again, got himself in the position. He makes things happen in most games he plays.

Well he’s never had a run of games in his best position so your point doesn’t seem an overly convincing response to Zat’s argument.
In what way? My response isn’t supposed to be some sort of zinger put down of zat, I’m an adult who’s just putting across some opinions not basing their entire life around looking good on the internet. Alcaraz played in literally every game he was available for after joining last year so he can’t really have been said to have been ‘rusty’ and yet he looked like that last year aswell. He’s made no major impact at Southampton or juve, has no international caps at 23, was available for £12m and signed for a relegation threatened PL team and hasn’t made himself a regular starter here. I think arguing that there aren’t some fairly major weaknesses in his game at the moment is a pretty bold move at this point to be honest, but you knock yourself out saying the rest of the footballing world is wrong and it’s only you and zat who can see the matrix, don’t let me stop you.
Academic talking about him getting games, hes going to get chances over the next month, it’s up to him how influential he will be, he had a great chance.
I don't think those supporters, including myself, who would like to see more of him as he brings an enhanced element of go forward given our current squad, are making him out to be a world beater. Surely given his age and strengths he merits an opportunity.
What constitutes a major weakness is subjective and will vary in any group of fans.

But I didn’t say anyone thought he was a world beater did I? So what’s that got to do with the point? All I said was you can see why he isn’t an automatic starter, because you can. I’m not saying he should never ever start or he’s useless or he never produces any quality, just that I think you can see why his all round game isn’t always seen as good enough (at pretty much every club he’d ever been at). Like I said, that can improve, but right at this moment I don’t think it’s a travesty that he doesn’t always play; if everybody’s available I’m not sure he’s in our best XI, I don’t think that’s massively controversial.

It does surprise me to see you doing the whole “why do you think you are smarter than the pros?” deal. Ok sure mostly guys are evaluated correctly but there are still more than a few times they aren’t. Smart people, much smarter than us, with endless football knowledge will still miss on players. Alcaraz bouncing around a bit doesn’t really prove or disprove anything.
And that’s without getting to the part where he’s kinda been productive everywhere he’s gone. Someone already posted the Moneyball meme. Ok sometimes he’s sloppy with the ball and gets caught out of position but what can he do: generate goals.
I’m not saying that though? I’m saying i think you can see why the pros think what they think, not that they just must be right because they’re pros. My original point was that you can see he has talent, but I can understand why his career so far is what it is, because he intersperses moments of real quality with moments of amateurish incompetence. Hes far from the only one, I’m not singling him out and my original post wasn’t even remotely critical of him. All I’m saying is I don’t watch him and don’t think it’s a travesty he doesn’t start more - it wouldn’t be terrible if he did but it’s not terrible that he doesn’t. Like I said, I really don’t think that’s very controversial.

How could be playing 5 minutes per game?
Ok was starting vs City in other positions than 10, helping Mykolenko, then 45 minutes vs Newcastle coming with a demoralizing 0-3, and today under nobody else availability circumstances. The same happens with Mc Neill and not to mention Dibling stuck on the bench.
Players needs confidence from his coach and time time to adapt time to know each others not in training but playing in the real game.

That clarified your point. His positive attributes are recognised in his ability to go forward and play others in. The squad struggles to score goals at present. Consequently from my perspective I would like to have seen him given more game time.
