2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

People either don't rate him or think he is brilliant, no middle ground.

He's alright, could even be good as he gains more experience.
I'm definitely on the "don't rate him" side of the argument, but that's probably more because I've seen people advocating playing him over KDH etc which I find absolutely insane.

He definitely has attributes which can be useful, particularly away from home, but I tend to value players who are technically good footballers - Grealish, KDH, Ndiaye etc. Alcaraz is less polished and I have a low tolerance for players who are as wasteful with the ball as he is.

We should be able to have a debate about the relative merits of a player rather than being pushed into a "he's crap" or "he's boss" box, but when has that ever been the case on here? That being the case, I side with the "he's crap" brigade, but I will admit there are games this season where I think he'd have been useful. I am fully expecting him to be on his bike in the summer though.

I still think hes a perfect player to have in your squad, and wouldnt advocate selling him at all.

Hes still very young, has shown hes physically ideal for the PL, and has some very positive attributes that are ideal from the bench/situationally. If Moyes is a good man manager, he can surely help him improve the parts hes poor at, and the reality is you cant have 20 starters in a club. Its hard to find players who dont feel like a massive drop-off when they come on, and are secondary players(and happy "enough" to play in that roll without rocking the boat).

But an attacking player isn’t going to be content to not play at a club not in Europe while the team struggles to score. If we have Europe the equation changes, otherwise he’s gone. And the contract situation probably means he’s gone anyway.

No greater crime for an Everton player to commit than giving the ball away. Doesn’t matter if anything actually useful is done with it so long as it isn’t given away.

His weaknesses don’t outweigh his strengths. At all.

For someone who carries the ball as frequently as he does, he doesn’t hide it well.

For someone who is constantly trying to play quick on the transition, he makes poor decisions more often than not.

Lots to like, and could be a good player in the future (useful squad player now). There’s no agenda here though.

He strikes me as one of those that will eventually find the right club and play really well. And when that happens everyone here will talk about how he had his chances (he hasn’t) and didn’t do enough (he has, despite the lack of chances).

He could do, or he could be playing for Sigma Olomouc in a few years time and pop up playing Fulham or someone in the Europa Conference league - “oh remember him”.

Much more likely scenario IMO based on his career so far.

To be honest I have no real strong opinion of him really as I have only seen him play a handful of times for us.

I think that's a bold statement (which is why I bolded it). That he's a net negative while he's on the pitch? Don't agree with that.
