SteKelly

Player Valuation: £35m
I was having a discussion with someone who is 'ITK' and he told me a couple of things and I thought I'd leave them here.

Moyes
At Home games they all met at a hotel, had a meal together and then got a coach to Goodison.
Training was around 9:30 to 12ish.

Sounds pretty normal right?

Martinez
At home games, they can make their own way to Goodison and arrive no later than 2hr 30mins before the game.
Training at FF is 9:30 to 12ish (It has been getting later and later now though. Some players come out at about 3ish. The likes of Lukaku, Mirallas, Deulofeu who apparently do extra training) and some days they train at night(?) I think RM still thinks he is in Spain lol
Also, they now have Non Compulsory training sessions.

Majority of you probably don't care about this thread but oh well

Many times, we would see players driving to the ground at 1ish.

Also didin't Beckford come in really late for a game because of traffic.

Also, why were the players cars always in the car park ??

Does not add up with the Moyes point!!!

I'm just going from what that lad told me.

I know he is spot on about non compulsory training though.

He's spot on about night time training too mate. Apparently Martinez has theories about the ways muscles react to training at different times of day, as well as muscle memory at different times. He apparently thinks that you need to train at night to prepare for night matches. Seems to work if Tuesday is anything to go by!

Nothing really that revolutionary. Likewise with non-compulsory training. These are professional adults, not school kids. The motivation for them to get better has to come from inside them.

Agreed, but apparently it's quite revolutionary compared to what went on under the previous regime which I think is the point of the OP. Not that either approach is right or wrong, it's just very different now than it was under Moyes.

Interesting, cheers - especially the optional training stuff. That's treating the players like adults.

You get the feeling Martinez rules with less of an iron fist than Moyes did. It's more about nurturing respect than fear.

One thing I've recently noticed is the players all wear the club suit on match days, really nice thing to see imo. All the big clubs do this. When you'd see the players do interviews after the game in tracky gear it was so small time imo. Would like to see the club badge on the lapels of the suits, hopefully they're just putting this off till the new one next season

There were quotes on the internet the other week from naimsith saying how the lads get awarded points in training for winning or doing good and after a couple of months whoever is top gets a gift, to install a winning mentality

So they were there for after the game and they'd take a shuttle over to the hotel?

I don't actually know, just hypothesizing.
