Championship Thread 25/26 Season

Seeing as the season is now over, I will now revisit my predictions.

Here is the Championship table alongside the position I predicted each team to finish in brackets:

1. Coventry City (5th, playoff winners)
2. Ipswich Town (3rd)
3. Millwall (15th)
4. Southampton (1st)
5. Middlesbrough (12th)
6. Hull City (24th)
7. Wrexham (7th)
8. Derby County (9th)
9. Norwich City (6th)
10. Birmingham City (14th)
11. Swansea City (21st)
12. Bristol City (8th)
13. Sheffield United (2nd)
14. Preston North End (22nd)
15. Queens Park Rangers (23rd)
16. Watford (13th)
17. Stoke City (16th)
18. Portsmouth (19th)
19. Charlton Athletic (17th)
20. Blackburn Rovers (10th)
21. West Bromwich Albion (11th)
22. Oxford United (18th)
23. Leicester City (4th)
24. Sheffield Wednesday (20th)

Overall, some of my predictions were well off (such as Hull getting relegated and Leicester making the playoffs) but I was also close on a few fronts and did manage to call Coventry's promotion (just not as playoff winners) and Wrexham narrowly missing out on the playoffs (finishing 7th). I was also only one place out with my predictions for four teams: Ipswich Town, Derby County, Stoke City and Portsmouth.

Now, for my revised playoff prediction, I am going to predict a Southampton v Millwall final with Southampton coming out on top.
Not bad! Nobody had Leicester going down and Millwall in play offs!

Hope you’re wrong about Southampton coming back up but they’re that team that’s hit form right at the right time and definitely favourites

Would like Boro back in the league personally

Wanted Wrexham to make the playoff just for the sake of having a different club join the Prem. Fully behind Millwall to make it now, would love a bit of chaos.

Honestly anyone but Southampton. Nothing against the club, just prefer something different.
With the new FFP rules Wrexham would have been highly dangerous, with the sheer amount of revenue they get from America/ “Hollywood”

I think in general newly promoted teams are now basically crippled with these new rules, especially as the years go on and the PL teams getting better and better at revenue raising. But they’d be the exception.

And once they’re up, if they produce on the field, they’d be a threat even to a team like Everton in the medium to long term I reckon (obviously us too).

As Sunderland is a team that I expect to be comfortably bottom half again next season, I’d happily have Millwall as the third up - at least that’s one relegation place wrapped up!
