Why not play Duffy? It's Norwich at home ffs. Sooner or later he's going to have to get some PL experience and why not when the other two are playing gash.

Agreed DM has to show some B*LLS! play the lad at 6ft 5 he shopuld dominate in the air we have been lacking in that dept all season -+ Norwich hurl the ball high into the box with Grant Holt here last season in good form!

Coleman cant defend, hes good going forward but useless going bk (Fulham 2nd both Reading goals) and if hes not gonna play on the right of midfield he doesnt play at all. Hibbert is far beta defensively and the overall defending is generally beta when hes in there. Neville is another option as hes not a centre mid either (i know hes out now). No one has mentioned Jags moving to RB, with Distan and Heitinga having a go at CB together. Im not against giving Duffy a chance either, he looked a decent prospect last year in the few games he played. Norwich is a good a game as any to give him his chance. I expect Barkley back to return this week, with Gibson and Neville being injured and Fellani suspended.

Unbelieveable, teccers.

I don't think it's the individual players that are the problem, we just don't seem to be defending as a unit the way we used to. It could be because players are getting dragged out of position to easily or it could be that because the full backs are getting forward more it is leaving gaps, but there just doesn't seem to be a blue brick wall at the back.

I would like to see Fellaini being put back into centre midfield for a while as he does a great holding job and provides such good cover for the defence. Obviously he is also doing a great job up front, but teams are setting up defensively with him in mind, so it would also have the added benefit of buggering up their plans.
While Naismith isn't the greatest player, he did have a really good partnership with Jelavic at Rangers, so woul dlike to see that combination tried out for us.

Why hasnt anybody mentioned the dream team we have already at the Club.

Round - Weir - Stubbs - Moyes

50% has happened and the other 50% could join if we had a massive injury crisis!

Duffy and Hibbert have not let Everton down playing at centre back to my recollection. Not that I am recommending them, just an observation.

Duffy and Jags has got to be a good shout as the other combinations have not been 'safe' by any stretch this season.

Hi, new to forum.

After a small discussion with a few in other threads regardings centre halfs what's everyone's opinion on the way we should go.

There's obviously a problem because we look vulnerable at the back. I see there is a high volume of Jagielka supporters here. However I think Heitinga and Distin need to be given a run of games together to see if they can reproduce last years form.

I am not a huge Jagielka fan. Never have been. He makes some fantastic tackles but he's never stood out to me as solid. He is easily drawn out of position and distribution is very poor.

Something I think Heitinga excels at when in form. He is very rarely drawn out of position and sees the simple passes better than Jagielka. He brings a calm to the back four (when next to Distin).

Jagielka seems irratic on the ball. Never comfortable and looking to move it on as quick as possible.

I really rate Distin. The only thing is his lapse of concentration every 20 games or so which cost us. Other than that I think he's solid.

Nobody can deny we look very vulnerable at the back this year Heitinga/Distin partnership hasn't been given a chance in the league. I think it's time to give it a go.

Now I expect the majority to say "Jagielka has been our best defender etc". But he's been tried with both partners and it's looked vunerable everytim.

Also think the back four will be more secure with Hibbert back in.

Hibbert Heitinga Distin Baines - give it a go Moyes.

We are weak at the back cos we are playing two attacking full backs, You cannot drop our best defender in Jags, Distin legs are going and Johnny is good but not great, i would like to see a new cb for Jags next season.

Jags, Distin and Heitinga are all ahead of Duffy, so two of the three would have to be injured before Moyes plays him.
There's more chance of Barkley playing against Norwich than Duffy.
