Heitinga only became gash because Moyes stopped playing him. Now every time he gets a game he has to go through that warm up period of matches that players need to get up to speed. He never got that run of games and so he's stuck in a vicious circle and his confidence is probably shot.

You don't go from being voted our player of the season and then gash overnight. Moyes should have played him from the start of the season.

JH is that good I would sell him in Jan & get him off the wage bill, he was woeful on Sat , & why the hell was he fetched back ???? player of the season or not he has been crass all season!

Why are so many people so blind to Coleman's abundantly apparent defensive inadequacies? Our defence has just got even worse since he got in the team, and he really isn't any great shakes going forward.

I don't particularly rate Hibbert, but I'd have him back in over Coleman any day.

Some players get given far too much stick, and then for some reason there are other players who don't get anywhere near as much criticism when it is warranted. I can see it now, Coleman will be afforded all the excuses in the world, we will still be getting told that he is young and inexperienced when he is 28.

Coleman has been very good this season ok he has made 2 mistakes this thread is about the centre backs in our defence tell me why Coleman was having to mark the goalscorer for both their goals??? a centre forward far bigger than him in height? Coleman on Sat made to great tackles to stop 2 certain goals - JH was missing all day!
Thats were the finger point needs to rest not at Colemans door - The centre of defence is soft centered jags is playing well we need Duffy to have a run in the team 6ft 5 would win those headers we never won a high ball on Sat thats why in the 2nd half Readings manager exposed that weakness that has been there all season!
We can not keep a clean sheet!

Coleman cant defend, hes good going forward but useless going bk (Fulham 2nd both Reading goals) and if hes not gonna play on the right of midfield he doesnt play at all. Hibbert is far beta defensively and the overall defending is generally beta when hes in there. Neville is another option as hes not a centre mid either (i know hes out now). No one has mentioned Jags moving to RB, with Distan and Heitinga having a go at CB together. Im not against giving Duffy a chance either, he looked a decent prospect last year in the few games he played. Norwich is a good a game as any to give him his chance. I expect Barkley back to return this week, with Gibson and Neville being injured and Fellani suspended.

In my opinion the best defence we have is

HIbbert Heitinga Distin Baines

When Hibbert fit it needs to be given a run of games.

This isn't to say Jagielka isn't as good as Heitinga or Distin. Just with the team we have he can't make a good partnership and our defence has been rubbish.He has played every game nobody else.

I also think Coleman is rated far too highly. Hibbert is a much better RB

I dont think any of them are particularily great. All of them are decent though.
