I thought he did quite well in what I saw of his debut. I didn't see all the game, missed both the opening and the final 20 mins and only caught bits of the rest whilst getting ready to go out, but it seemed to me that we were at least trying to get a lot more players in support of him. This makes a hell of a difference to a striker playing up top on his own.
DCL is getting a lot of unwarranted stick on this forum. I'm glad we brought in another striker because DCL needed taking out of the firing line for a while, but I'm not yet convinced that Cenk is the massive upgrade that some in here seem to think. I'll wait until I see how he deals with the hoof football and zero support that DCL has endured all season before making that call.
I'm hoping he'll at least carry a bit more goal threat than DCL, but after Saturday's result I can see Allardyce reverting to type in the next few games so I'm expecting Cenk to find life a bit more lonely than he's used to.

Yeh I know a lot of people on here said he was crap but I was impressed. There was something weirdly Berbatov about him, lots of languid touches and passes, can't really explain. More dominant in the air than I expected and battered their defenders with some fouls. I think if we can get Gylfi, Walcott or whomever up close with him he'll be a success. If we give him what Dom's had all season he won't do much.

i have explained what type of player cenk is at the early days of this thread and cenk showed all the facts i pointed out in just his first game. but his best at a passing game and sam is clearly not gonna change his tactics for one player. defence is his tactics against tougher opposition, and this is not good for cenk. he needs better players near him when he wins the headers from all the long balls he will get. someone to het the rebounds and feed the ball for him on goal. he will win the header and turn and run at defenders so everton just needs someone to catch them balls and knock them in front of cenk.

Rooney is fine as long as he's played deeper, and only then in certain games.
Don't need three DMs against west brom, hell, 1 will do. Rooney back there with Gueye, let him link defense and attack.
