But paid massively over the top (even by UK prices) for all of them, which rather proves my point.

Throw in Bolasie / Williams / Klaassen / Schneiderlin (sadly) and it shows I'm a 10 on the right-meter
We're sort of arguing the same point from different perspectives here.

If anything, by bringing up Williams, Bolasie and Schneiderlin it strengthens my point. You buy from the Premier League and you pay top dollar....

All of those players - on the face of it are good investments by the standards that seem to be espoused on this site.

Both stances seem to converge on the price for Tosun. It's high for a player within the context.

At least Jagielka will be happy then, he has a clause from the Moyes era (same as Neville had) that the captain should always be the highest earner. John Terry had it too

Take captaincy off him prior to selling him next week.

But as for Tosun, give him a chance folks.

I can't begrudge Jagielka £220k a week, sadly Farhad has lost his nerve and bowed down to the Turks demands and he's been absolutely bummed on the personal terms and transfer fee.

£27m rising to £64m after 12 appearances seems like schoolboy negotiating.

That was in an earlier contract, I doubt that it was included in his most recent one.

If Tosun had scored 31 goals in 38 appearances and we were a league winning and dominant side picking him up for £1.5m you may have a point

Huh? What has OGS' record got to do with anything here? I was answering the question of what age he was when he joined united.

My only point was that experience in this league doesn't count for as much as people seem to think - all transfers are risks (strikers being the biggest risk due to cost and the shear number of them that flop at ALL clubs).

I just don't get why any Everton supporter would be so negative about a new signing (albeit it's not complete just yet) before he even plays... the attitude comes across like the way a spoiled child would act when he only gets a PS4 for Christmas and not a PS4 PRO.
