It really is. A player who wasn't good enough for us, Sevilla, whichever team he played for in Germany etc etc.

At £27m he is going to be a serious gamble on the Slimani scale. Not what we need right now.

Could be good?
Give him a game before we write him off?

It's too simple to use stats in that way. Some players coming from "inferior" leagues do well, some don't, there's simply no way of knowing until he's played 30 games in the Premier League. That does make it a gamble, but it doesn't automatically mean he will fail.

It is a fair indicator.

The transfer prices in Turkey historically also show we have been taken completely to the cleaners.

Batembi Gomis, a player who scored 7 in 31 and 6 in 33 for Swansea has nearly a goal a game in Turkey this season

Adebayor, 1 goal in 12 for Palace last season

Burak Yılmaz, who has scored masses of goals in Turkey but has only been risked by a Chinese club because people realise the standard is so bad.

We're about to nearly double the record. Yerrrrrrrrs

err...he's more of a number 10, or they have been playing him on the left this season...something like that

We could go for another top Spanish youth product, proven in La Liga and incredible value at only 5 Mill. Oh wait.

That's because most of the players on that chart are at the end of their careers and have no transfer value.

?????

No mate, that is all Turkish transfers in and out, including players who played there in their, ahem, 'prime'.

If we sell Sandro, we will easily get the £5m. We sold Anichebe for more than that. Someone will gamble on his La Liga form, especially if we loan him on and he bags a couple.

Tosun unfortunately will be yet another Walsh-sanctioned financial disaster for the club.

There have been some cracking Turkish players in Serie A and La Liga over the years. If you looked at Scottish transfers over the years you would say the same, but the RS have just paid £75m for a player who was in the SPL less than 3 years ago.

You don't know that, do you ?

Scored the same number of goals as Tosun in the league. Ryan Babel has only scored one less than Tosun playing for the same team as him. Tells you all you need to know about the standard of the league and why we should be swerving this guy.

Same amount of league goals but in like 350 less minutes. Scored a few more in cups and the CL. Think Tosun is outperforming Kone based on the stats.

But hey let's maybe watch him play for us then say if he's a waste of money?
