Its important not to get fleeced though, clubs will look at the Lukaku fee and what we did with Gylfi and chance their arm its part of having a higher profile in the transfer market.

For me this is done, the player is in the country, he wants to join - that is great news. Its just the dance. They cant do deals for a replacement without certainty, look what happened to Swansea for pushing out the Gylfi deal for an extra five million, didn't do them any favors, likely probably relegated them.

We've been getting fleeced for the most part since Mosh took over. Remember us paying the exact fee for Schneiderlin that United paid 2 seasons ago as if his value never decreased?

And we're in January. Smaller pool of players available and at a premium.

All this "Its only £3m, just pay it" talk. That's another 10%. It happened with Sigurdsson too. I for one would be happy if we called their bluff and just said no. We don't even know if he's gonna be any good, he could be another Sandro, but at least he only cost us £5m.

We are going to arrive at a point where we have absolutely no bargaining power to any team we buy from, when we have bids accepted and they know they can renege and ask for more, and we will just back down and pay it.

I feel we need at least 2 strikers in this window, as well as a couple of other positions, and if we pay £30m for the unproven 1st one, the 2nd is either going to be astronomical or an even bigger punt, and even then, we will still end up over paying.

Koeman has stitched us up massively with his reckless spending on average players. It will set us back years.

OK, sorry but, fake news. Please ignore SporX all together.
which part? part that he wants to join Everton or the wage increase part?
Well both of them make perfect sense to me :) He is waiting in England for starters.
Cenk won't play the furious here if things dont end up as expected but he'll definitely ask for a new contract. Even players on loan ask for wage hike!

Move on. If there aren't other options then Walsh needs let go. Can't say you've agreed at £25 million only for their chairman to say "you know what lets up it another £10 million." Say no thank you and move on, Swansea all over again.

Wage increase part. If Cenk wants more, he is going to ask and get it anytime. He doesn't need this as an excuse.

Because if you let every team you buy off just add an extra 20% on what effectively is already a premium type price, then it'll all add up say we did that with every player bought so far, add an extra 40m in money wasted onto what's already been spent.

For any club outside 5-6 in the world that will long term do huge damage to their recruitment,

It's also about your reputation and standing in the game. If you get a reputation for being soft touch it won't end well.

Clubs will not stop chancing their arm either if we pay up. They will just start asking for more. If I knew a buyer was weak I'd do exactly the same.

The problem with Everton is we don't help ourselves. If I sold to someone what I'd hate to hear is they would walk away from negotiations. When Beskitas jet muddied the waters we should have decisively walked away and ended interest and moved onto our next target. It would have been a clear message to them, and the wider footballing world we are serious. The fact we are still negotiating I do find worrying.

I can't get Walsh really. His USP was finding bargains and from unorthodox places. I just wish he'd do that. If someone messes him about, move onto the next. At present we are increasingly paying good money for the same sort of players he signed for a pittance at Leicester.
