It is indisputable that Carlo has had a very positive effect on us. No chance we get James or Allan without him.
My issue is that we failed to show up, again. That's like 4 times this season already. The team looks just so completely disjointed and static. It really annoys me seeing them pass to a player then just stand there instead of moving and creating space. That's something that should be taken care of in training but it doesn't look like they are improving it at all.
As others said we're going to lose matches, everyone does. If we're going to lose I'd much rather see an effort and "well that didn't come off but good effort!" than whatever it was we were served up, again, yesterday.
The problem is that the players are unreliable. A few of them are reliable 7/10, 8/10 or better players almost every week. Most are up and down, capable of an 8 or a 2. A few are never going to give you more than a 6. Until we have more of the reliable players - and these will be Carlo signings - then we'll be up and down. We're going to be a rollercoaster until he can get his players in most positions. Then it will be all on him to get the team motivated for each game. But right now, what can you really expect from the likes of Coleman (now, sadly, a player capable only of a 6 at best), Iwobi (who could go from a rare 8 to a regular 2), a Davies (more likely a 5, sometimes a 2, rarely an 8), or a Sigurdsson (capable of a 7, 8, or even a 9, but just as likely to return a few 3s). Gomes is another - we've seen an 8 or 9 from him - but these have been drowned in a sea of 2s and 3s.
Even our better players have either been inconsistent - Richarlison - or not on the pitch (James, Allan).
Accepting that injuries are part of the squad, we need more consistency from everyone - players whose consistent level is a 6 or 7 but who often produce an 8 or 9 (DCL). Too many of our players are more likely to produce a 3 or 4 than an 8.
