i see were you come from
but just with jags if he matures a bit more he could posibley becom it in a few years

considering that he did captian shefield?

Dedication as in constantly going against the clubs wishes and playing in every australia game and getting a serioualy damaging injury? To be fair to Moyes, he did say this would happen if he continued playing so many games.

Little tiny ossie a captain! Jeez I hope not, we'd have the most timid captain in the whole world:lol:

If you don't understand why tim wants to play every oz game then don't comment on it. He fought to be accepted and wants to play. End of

Cahill - no doubt about it - for all the reasons that Halewood Blue mentioned.

Also of all the players we have Cahill strikes me as being the one our opposition (no matter who) fear the most.

Move Arteta into the centre and let him boss the game, or the only other obvious choice is Cahill.

Those 2 are my only realistic choices.

He can play for his country as much as he wants, but if you burn yourself out then you get injured and then cant play for anyone, so whats the point in that?

But sorry, the voice of halewoodblue has spoken so i shouldnt dare to have an opinion on this.

Well sadly hes right this time. Cahill had a long, long battle to play for "his country", hes not gonna miss a chance to pull on that gold shirt.

Surely we should be proud of having international players in our squad? Yes they always get injured because of it, but i would rather we signed 10 internationals then 10 no marks, as im sure you would too?

Goes for every single international player we have does it?

I think that if Cars was still with us he would be a good choice but at the moment either Yobo or Nevs are good picks for me. We cant judge captaincys after the first league game I think we need to find out who will step up in the times that we are in, that is what a true leader is.

I have nothing against him playing for his country, I was commenting on his dedication to us, it was the overplaying for us and australia that caused his burnout. So by being torn between his reponsibilities between us and australia has helped cause his injury, so his dedication to us is not 100% do anything for everton and thats what is needed from a captain in my mind, not someone who has spent so long received treatment and doing nothing for the club.

I'm not being drawn into a pointless debate on this, my overall point was Cahill to me isnt the best choice as captain.

I don't think Neville is a leader. He's a shouter but he doesn't inspire his teammates nor does he have the ability to drive us forward and get everyone going. It's dissapointing that under him as captain we've yet to beat a team once going behind. In the League that is the case anyway.

I don't believe captains have to be loud. If they can drive the team forward, show great consistency and communicate well your fine. Gerrard isn't a shouter yet he's one of the best captains around, the same could be said of Vieira at Arsenal.

Joleon Lescott for me has it all. He communicates reasonably well, he's ultra consistent and he's the one driving us forward when the chips are down and where on the backfoot. He's at a good age aswell.

I'd have Cahill as vice captain as he's different, more agressive with a winners mentality. I think that role would really suit him for a number of reasons. For one I think he lacks the disipline to be a captain, he has injury problems and isn't reliable enough to stay fit for a full season.

I've always had the feeling that Moyes is lining Yobo up for Captain once Nev hangs up his boots in 10 years time. Is he not vice captain at the moment? It was Stubbs but he's gone now and I seem to remember Yobo taking it against Larissa AE and Derby when Neville was suspended.

How on earth can you question his dedication to us? He bleeds blue, he also loves his country.

If i recall hes got a broken foot, which he picked up playing for us. Nothing to do with "burnout", purely a footballing injury, not caused by stress, but by a heavy blow to the foot or in Tims case a heavy fall onto the foot.

Im sorry to be blunt, but get a clue.

The captain must talk and gee up the team, we all hear Nevilles girly little voice across Goodison so he clearly talks a lot. It would be impossible for Moyes to change his CPT @ this point, we are stuck with Neville for a while, but if i had to pick i would say Lescott, he talks a lot and he would demand respect.
