Did I say that?
Being a good captain and giving us good years of service is different to deserving another contract.
I think he will go to Hull City, Steve Bruce is the manager there and they are old chums
If Hull do go up they will set a record for the lowest points total ever in the Premier League next season, they are awful. Though of course they will still beat a certain team in blue.

....and in one appearance as a pundit on Match Of The Day( or whatever it was)) Phil proved he is a better pundit than his brother by a long way. He's too much of a self publicist to think that, he's always been behind Gary in terms of natural ability so he overcompensates in other areas to make up for it, at least Gary straight up knew when it was time.

I know this is standard sport fan logic but I never understood why it's so bad for someone to keep playing as long as they can. This seems like far more of an issue for us than the athletes themselves. It's pretty logical to play as long as you can and if you need to step down a level or two to continue then why not? Some choose to retire instead but if you want to play another year at a lower level why does this bother people?he really should retire, hes at risk of embarassing himself, even in the championship...

It wasn't his fault he was played too much this year -- he's hardly going to tell a manager to put him on the bench instead.
He's not good enough for a Euro chasing side but if he wants to play for a side lower down the table/leagues then why not?
Why is our reaction not "wow he must love to play football and doesn't have an ego about it" instead of "why is he embarrassing himself?"
