That being said, he's one of the few captain material players we have, Pickford being the other.

I don't even get this to be honest.

He has been fine. Had a couple of moments like all players have but he has been perfectly acceptable.

With Coleman essentially a bit player, James Tarkowski has become the de facto captain of our beloved blues. Aside from his game play, I believe Tarko’s leadership and mentality is not strong enough for his role. His latest antics against Forest is just another example of dodgy reckless decisions that threaten results.

Is it time to make a change?

Great idea this, things are going well and the team spirit looks incredible so let's rock the boat by stripping the captaincy off Tarkowski and create potential divisions and morale issues with the team spirit

Tarkowski is a boss captain, all fight and winning mentality

He hasn’t looked quite as good footballing-wise this season because he’s had Keane next to him instead of Branthwaite who is top class. It’s no coincidence his best game this season was the one with O’Brien next to him with pace to cover. Keane has done well but it’s a lot easier having an all action pacey centre back next to you!


Future captain material players are definitely KDH and maybe Garner, O’Brien and Branthwaite though those three are a little quiet at the moment but I think they’ve got the right stuff.

Love the lad already and definitely future captain candidate material, but simply not been here long enough. Gueye could be a good captain I think.

I love Gueye but captain ?? He's currently serving a ban for twatting a teammate... Not really any better than Tarks's shinanigins.

Our captain's identify is one of our lower priorities. Coleman gives club and civic lesdership. Tarks is the sergeant major on the pitch.

agree completely, hes not perfect but the moaning about him is always over the top.

Yes he makes the odd rash challenge, but rarely does he get done for it. IMO this is in large part because hes got a rep, somehow, with refs for being alright, even though he is always in their ear.

For me, hes walking that line pretty well, onside enough with the refs to get away with some stuff, influence them a bit, it works pretty well.

At the end of the day, hes been the single mainstay of a back 4 over the last few seasons that is up there with the leagues best. Mad amount of clean sheets.

Recently hes even been taking flack for trying to block shots, because hes been a bit unlucky with the results having done that people are saying stuff like "you should be leaving those to the keeper" which is a new one on me. Pretty sure defenders are always taught to close down and block shots!

Theres an argument that Tarkowski isn't going to be in our best 11 on ability once Branthwaite is back, but he is clearly a good leader so he won't get dropped.

Other than him we really don't have many options other than Pickford really. KDH is a good option as a successor when he has been here a bit longer though.
