Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

I know the point mate, hence my lol in the reply.
The league's getting binned anyway, it should have been done weeks ago.

I can only speak for myself, but I've no interest at all in football right now and to be honest, I may struggle to get interested in next season even if it started on time.

Think you're bang on, its frankly an irrelevance at the moment. I've got a lot of mates who work in the NHS and health & social care and let's just say they're haunted by what they're dealing with. One of the families in my mom's street (they all brought houses there) have been hit badly - one death and two hospitalizations. Its impossible to even contemplate anything that may perpetuate this virus never mind care about a league competition.

Do you mean Martina, Niassie, siguardsson, Bolasie and Sandro? We live in hope.
Thankfully two of those contracts are up. So whatever happens past 31st of June we have a legitimate complaint that the league can't continue due to players leaving. Could you imagine that, Oumar and Cuco clinch the title from the RS haha

Frankly it's ridiculous that they haven't cancelled the league, in the beginning it was a bit of a joke, however after all these deaths they should of just cancelled it. I know I shouldn't of read that rag the Echo, but the article in there by that bellend on Sunday was beyond a joke. Not once did he mention people dying, just mentioned how it was wonderful the premier league are willing to continue the league, honestly it was beyond a joke, it was beyond a joke. I fail to see the importance of finishing the season, honestly if they do, I think i'll give up on footy. The reality is playing behind closed doors just means that Liverpool, City and Chelsea will have home advantage in every game. Also how is it fair for clubs fighting relegation to play without their fans, honestly it's why I've gone off democracy, the idea that the muppets calling for the league to be finished can vote is serious. Most people would realise that people's lives come before football.

I doubt 300 people in a stadium designed for 50000 counts as a mass gathering though. They wont be all stood in a group like a crowd at a concert

But the most important 22 people in that stadium will be in very close proximity to one another almost all the time.

What price “social distancing” any time there is a corner and all the shenanigans that accompanies corner kicks these days.

its morally disgusting when so many are doing their damndest to save lives. One life saved should be greater than the greed of the premier league right now. How many lives lost / saved does the Premier League need to justify any continuation of its greed.

All it takes is one of the 30 squad members or associated support team or hotel staff wherever they’re staying to be carrying it to infect other players. Ridiculous idea to suggest 92 remaining games can be played in 40 days behind closed doors from June 8. Just one person from 500 at each game (Plus all the people all the time outside each match day supporting the 20 squads) who unknowingly has covid from May 21 could effectively infect the entire premier league and their families before the 40 days are done. And that means given the intensity of virus transfer we’ve seen globally that tens of thousands of possible infections will follow for far longer than 40 days after.

And none of the above takes into account that ordinary people won’t gather to watch one of the 92 remaining games.

Honestly the games are played, the inevitable happens and who honestly believes that tens of thousands of RS won’t be celebrating in close proximity.

So this means that the entire nation is in lockdown for another few months. It means many more will die than those already currently dying because they can’t get routine cancer treatment or routine operations because hospitals are only able to deal with COVID. what price football? What price premier league?

If Social distancing is in place then how can behind closed doors matches work, and if they did go ahead with it, people watching or reading about it will go oh its sound to go and play footy with me mates or whatever then

A suspension till 2021 might be ideal for Liverpool.....at that point it's too late to start the 20/21 season, so why not just finish the 19/20 season...the 20/21 season never happens and we'd move on to the 21/22 season...

Crikey, you'd think it was the end of the world for the PL as it is missing 9 games, imagine a whole season!
