Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

What do you guys think...What will FA decide?
Well the fact the Open and Wimbledon have gone says that the government told them sport isn't returning any time soon. The Premier League may hold on and wait and see as if it starts eating into next season they can think that finishing this one might be all they can expect for the time slot of next season anyway.

Suprised the Ryder Cup haven't pulled, I think they will at some point, love watching that

So if thats true they are willing to force this season to an end eventhough it would mess up the next one....that would mean short season 2020-2021....
They should null and void and wait if we can start new season with full season...in any case...if they will play this season through it will totally mess up next season...thats crazy

People shouldn't forget that this year's Euros have to be played at the end of next season. Any delay to the start of the season would cause havoc with the tournament.

So bin off the League Cup and FA Cup plus the international breaks. That would leave 19 weeks minimum for a 38-game season (games Wednesdays and Sat/Sun). If you start the season on New Year's Day, you finish mid-May. Obviously, an earlier start would be preferable and a later start would bollocks the whole thing up. Of course, there could be a solution to that as well -- play 19 games, then split the league into two, with each group playing another nine games (and getting the reverse fixture of the one played in the first round, so a team would have 10 home and 9 away in the first part, 4 home and five away in the second and vice versa, meaning all 20 teams would have 14 home and 14 away games). Not perfect, but it would be a lot fairer than just a 19-game season.

Bin off cups ..fk that...And how could you bin off international breaks???

I'm totally over football at this point. Sky have utterly ruined the game beyond all recognition. Its the sport that I got into and fell in love with as a kid in name only, its barely a sport anymore. It's basically drama show that focus on the same old boring main character's/clubs over and over but will occasionally let the "others" take centre stage for comic relief purposes. Every now and then it likes to break the four wall and ride the wave of controversy when its there, pretending that it's still a legit. Congratulations Sky, you've turned football into an even crapper version of WWE. I hope you like what you've got because it's utterly repulsive to those of us who actually loved football as it was.

As someone on here said the other day, sporting events that have large attendances will surely be the last thing to get going again, people will still be fearful sitting shoulder to shoulder with someone for about a year I would think. Pubs and cafes will open before those events I would think, at least you can segregate people a bit. And as for playing behind closed doors, to me, what’s the actual point? Football is entertainment, without the fans there it’s pointless.

Top marks for your response. Just picking up on your international breaks proposal.
World Cup qualifying will have to be started won't they? I know Qatar is getting played in the winter so already the timescales for that will be squeezed. I give up, it's gonna be a good few years before we're back on an even keel.

It would be a one-off and would also be the only way to fit in a full season before the Euros if football doesn't resume in August, which it doesn't have a hope in hell of doing. The other options are finishing the 2019-20 season and nothing till the Euros, or just nothing till the Euros. Take your pick, but I know which option I prefer. As for international breaks, the Euros are basically set and the World Cup in 2022 isn't until December, IIRC, so there would be time in the summer of 2022 to get a large chuck of the qualifiers played.

Sadly, you are correct.
